Just another Granlund trade

Créé par: Byrr
Équipe: 2020-21 Maple Leafs de Toronto
Date de création initiale: 9 mars 2021
Publié: 9 mars 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Trade value is taken from comparable trades for Gustav Nyquist and Mats Zuccarello at the 2019 deadline. The Leafs don't have a 3rd round pick in 2021 so I threw in a middling prospect instead.

Nashville fans will be screaming. But that's his value to the Leafs and no more. Don't know if justified playing top 6 minutes for the Leafs.

They might scream but thats why I listed the comparable trades I used for value. They'll have to argue why Granlund is worth more.

Seems like when CF folks post a Granlund going to the the other 29 teams in the league (not Nashville, or the Leafs), with similar value to yours, Nashville fans have no complaints
But a Leafs post....Kerfoot and and a 1st isn't enough.

We just don't want to retain Kerfoot in that deal.

I actually love this deal Abramov is a prospect who has some good upside I would accept this for Granlund.

I used a higher end 'middling prospect' because the Leafs would be asking Nashville to retain around 400-500k more than the comparable trades in a cap environment where it might be more valuable.

Sorry, in every virtually trade cap has to come to back to other team. Don't know why you such bone against Kerfoot. He's better than Johansen and pretty close to Duchene and the Preds have 15m tied up in those guys. You seem to think these Nashville forwards, on the fourth worse scoring team in the NHL and one of the worse defensively have so much value.

Abramov is a guy who can play on our top 6 or in the top 9 with offensive upside. He has a very dangerous shot. This is a very good offer that we would be dumb to decline.

NSH accepts. Personally I've always liked Abruzzese, and would ask for him instead of Abramov. Not sure if TOR especially values one more than the other. Even if it's a no from the Leafs, I'm still good with the OP.

Nashville will more than likely try to get one of them taken by Seattle, probably Johansen. Their stats lately are comparable between the 3 of them. Kerfoot is a below 50% FO guy where Joey and Duchene are over 50. I know some salary probably needs to come back but in this particular deal Nashville is retaining half so money does not need to come back.

If I was Toronto GM, I'd start with Abruzzese as the offer rather than Abramov but I didn't want to get into some long fight in the comments. The thing that discouraged me from using Abruzzese is that he could actually elect for free agency this summer since he's coming out of the NCAA and I think that makes him much riskier to use in a trade like this.

There is no way Seattle takes Johansen. They can spend 8m a lot better on UFAs. Every "homer" thinks Seattle is going to take awful contracts. Johansen's term makes his contract one of the worse in the league.

That is one thing Nashville knows very well from our time having Vesey in the pool and him electing to not sign.

I said they will try to get them to take it I didn't say they would. They will be looking to do anything they can to offload one of those contracts. Neither one of them are bad players they just haven't performed up to the standards of their deals. Give both of them talent around them and they can produce.

I mean Abruzzese over Abramov is just my opinion. Other Preds fans could prefer Abramov. It's honestly hard to compare them right now, when one is playing and the other isn't. Knowing David Poile, he's going to prefer the US born NCAA guy.

Something I bet they are well aware of too since the top free agent coming out of college this summer is potentially a Nashville draft pick, David Farrance.

They are gonna do everything they can to get his name on the dotted line. He wants to come out and head straight to the NHL.

Nah I think most Nashville fans will say fair deal to this one. I'd certainly consider it as well. Would not shock me in the slightest if this deal took place.

I think the Vesey situation gets overblown. He was one guy who made a rather illogical decision (NSH would have inserted him into the lineup for that playoff drive, burning a year off his ELC), no reason to think he's part of a trend. I don't think Vesey is the harbinger of no college player ever signing with NSH again, just one individual who made that choice for whatever his personal preferences at the time were. NSH eventually got Pitlick out of it and Vesey never lived up to the hype. No big loss.

I agree i think he would have benefited coming to Nashville versus the Rangers. Huge market for a top player coming out of college to underperform vs Nashville where we would have seen what he could do during the playoff run and probably get sent to Milwaukee if needed.

James Mirtle

The Detroit Red Wings flipped Nyquist for a second-round draft pick and a conditional third-round pick. Zuccarello netted the New York Rangers conditional second- and third-round picks. Both players were rentals and had 30 percent of their salaries retained.

The Leafs don’t have a 2021 third-rounder due to the Jack Campbell trade last year, but they could just as easily give up their 2022 pick if that was the asking price. Or throw in a middling prospect from a pipeline that took a big step forward after the 2020 draft.
