Sabres aren't moving Staal for a future 3rd and some scraps. If that is the type of offer they will max out at then they just keep him until the end of the year

Paying any assets for Sheahan would actually, in fact, be horrible. Khaira's better and we don't need to be giving up draft picks for fringe NHL players.

We need a guy who can win a faceoff and penalty kill. The faceoffs especially need to be addressed.

Faceoffs are over-rated. Links below. We have three forwards that should be part of a regular penalty kill (Archibald, Khaira, RNH). Haas and Nygard - in limited capacities - have shown the ability to PK. Ennis and Kassian can and have stepped in in a pinch. Draisaitl isn't a stranger to faceoffs or the penalty kill.

Why go acquire a player that can't do anything else during an NHL game besides play the PK when you can acquire a bona-fide #3C that can do more than just those two things? I'm begging you to answer this, you've avoided this question every time I've asked you. Why are you intent on settling for mediocrity?

I don’t believe a trade deadline add of a legitimate 3rd line center will make that much difference this year. I think our RW has good players but the LW doesn’t have what is needed. The defence still isn’t good enough and neither is the goaltending. I don’t want to spend all the picks just yet. I want to be cheap and give them what they need To maybe win a playoff series but I don’t want something where the high picks are gone and they still aren’t good enough. I still think there are better trades and signings to be made in the offseason to actually tackle these problems.
