Boston is not trading Mac for Eichel. They would not 1 for 1.

Take him out and you are close to FMV.

McAvoy doesn't have more value than Eichel...that stated, the Bruins trade is still atrocious.

Blues say no and laugh at the deal. Hall will not yield a young NHL player and a 1st.

I don't think you would find one Bruins fan who would trade McAvoy for Eichel straight up. He may win the Norris this year, I thought it would take a few more, but it didn't. Top 5 without question. That isn't going to Change for the next decade. McAvoy is the equivalent of 23 year old Doughty.

He's not a top 5 defenseman. He's good, but not top 5 and definitely no Drew Doughty.
Bruins wouldn't trade McAvoy because their defense is already depleted, plus Eichel isn't a position of need for them. I like McAvoy, but come on.

Nothing you really said here is correct. Their defense is in pretty good shape. I guess Carlo brings some question to that, but Grzelcyk has been really good and Lauzon and Zboril have also exceeded expectations. Vaakanainen looks legit too. Center is probably their biggest need as Krejci and Bergeron are both in their mid/late 30's.

McAvoy is now a top 5 defenseman and will finish in top 5 in Norris voting. Just look at his numbers. Chara is gone and Reigns are off. It's his team and he is having his best year by far. While paired with a rookie.

McAvoy isn't a top 5 defenseman...yet. He's very good, but isn't quite to that level. Right now, Petro, Theodore, Josi, Hedman, Makar, Provorov, Slavin are all ahead. Some would even put Klingberg up there as well as Hughes (though I wouldn't put Hughes there yet). So while he's good, not top 5. Lauzon and Zboril are good. Great? No. Solid? They do the job. Gryz is just okay as well. Vaak is still extremely green. They only have 2 bona-fide defensemen and that's McAvoy and Carlo.
As far as center, Bergeron is still one of the best in the game. Krecji will be a UFA and won't be back probably. But they still have Coyle there to take over 2c duties. Frederic is coming into his own as a good bottom 6 guy. Beecher looks great. Studnicka is getting better as well. Plus shoutout to Lauko and Oskar Steen. They have good centers coming up. Yes, Eichel is really good. Franchise? No. Worth more than McAvoy? Absolutely at this point. It's not a ton more and the gap is smaller than people think.
But in terms of team need? McAvoy is needed more than Eichel.

At this point, Hall is a memory of his former self. We'll keep Thomas and the first.

I am not sure if you understand how good McAvoy is. I guess we will see, Provorov, MAKAR????? and Slavin are clearly not better. Not even close. All you have to do is look at the numbers. I mean Chara is 6 on Washington and Krug is a 3-4 on STL. Kind of shows you who's team it's really been for the last couple years.

I bet McAvoy finishes top 5 in Norris without a question.

I watch every Bruins game (wife's favorite team is Boston). Yes, he's very good. Yes, he puts up great numbers in a defensive friendly system. Makar is better than McAvoy. His game is insanely good overall, so is Provorov. Slavin, while not as dynamic offensively, is one of the best all around defenseman in the game.
Krug is actually top pair on the Blues. So not 3-4.
I like McAvoy. I'd rather have him than all but Parayko from the Blues. Top 5? No he's not (neither is Parayko).

I guess we will see, but I am pretty sure you just told me I was right. You said it was your Wife's favorite team. I can only assume you said "hey ..... some idiot thinks McAvoy is a top 5 dman". And, she seemingly agreed as you didn't say even my Wife thinks Makar, Provorov are better...I have found myself in the unique position of being right even if I am wrong.

My wife doesn't watch as much hockey as I do. Outside of the Bruins and Blues, she doesn't watch that much. But no, I didn't say you were right because McAvoy still isn't a top 5 defenseman. He's a really good defenseman. Top 10? Likely. Top 5? No. I never said McAvoy wasn't good.
