Simply one of the most talent deficient rosters in the league. On a game to game basis we roll out players who in the roles they are being asked to play are simply overmatched. The failure of this team to find a capable RHD has essentially neutered OEL who was once one the top defenseman in the league. For the last 3 seasons he's been paired with the corpse formerly known as Jason Demers and now Ilya Lyubushkin, who while capable is a 3rd pairing D man. Our second power play unit features Tyler Pitlick (a bottom 6 player), and a 33 year old Brassard. The shame of it all is that we still have the goaltending and young players like Keller, Schmaltz, Garland, Chychrun, and Dvorak are all producing. Regardless it's time to tear it down to the studs, shed the age off this roster, and turn the page. Do it now too at the deadline when prices get crazy. The most important thing for this team to get in returns is draft capital and young/close to NHL ready centers, you need as many swings at the plate as possible at the center position. Also firing Tocchet is essential as well.
