I say protect De Haan over Zadorov. Now that we don't have to worry about Seabrook's cap space, his contract isn't going to be a problem, and he is a much better defensive anchor for the young guys than Zadorov is.

Also, even if De Haan is exposed, I think Seattle takes Wallmark instead of De Haan. There are going to be a lot of good defensemen exposed, and Wallmark is an excellent (and cheap) depth center, which every team needs. Based on the trends from the last draft, I would not be shocked if we keep both De Haan and Zadorov.

I certainly think there is a possibility that one of De Hann and Zad could be traded before expansion, but if not this is just my feeling what will happen. Bowman would be stupid to not open up a spot for Beaudin, and I think one of them is gone.

I don't mean to say we should keep De Haan and Zadorov - I think if De Haan doesn't get taken we should trade Zadorov's rights. If we enter next season with Keith, De Haan, and Murphy anchoring all three pairings with Beaudin, Boqvist, and Mitchell, I think we could be getting close to contending again.
