Sign me up for the Tatar deal. I think the Habs lose him this off season and getting two decent players and a 2nd for him is a bonus

No from the Wild. Don’t need defense. Especially 2 of them.

Tatar back to back Career years over 55pts both years, I think MTL can get better players for him. Also if MTL is in a playoff spot I don't they they're trading him, they'll keep him as their own rental.

Edmonton declines the Dumba deal, that's terrible for the Oilers.

If he had term on his contract you would be right but as a rental usually the value would be a 1st round pick or 2nd + RFA which is kahun.

Dumba is pretty well if Barrie and Bear had a baby and it got their good stuff not their bad stuff. They need to improve their puck moving and get some stability.

Bear and Barrie are better puck-movers than Dumba (who is a puck rusher), Bear is a better defender. Barrie is much better offensively. And you added a 1st?!

Barrie might be a bit better offensively and as a puck mover. Defensively, neither are as good as Dumba. Overall, Dumba is the best of the three and it's not particularly debatable.

That said, neither team does this. Just doesn't make enough sense.

Checked the stats, turns out you're wrong. Dumba faces 2nd pairing comp, Bear faces 1st pairing comp. Bear gets better results vs Elites than Dumba does, even in harder minutes. He's 3 years younger and $4M cheaper, it's not debatable which player has more value. Over the past 1.5 seasons:

5v5 vs Elites
Bear: 37.4% TOI vs Elites, +1.48 CF% rel, +0.59 DFF% rel, 58.70 GF%
Dumba: 26.5% TOI vs Elites, -2.46 CF% rel, -6.59 DFF% rel, 26.47 GF% (ouch!)

5v5 vs all
Bear: 1579.4 TOI, +3.15 CF% rel, +2.77 DFF% rel, 44.59 GF%
Dumba: 1481.3 TOI, -0.98 CF% rel, -1.68 DFF% rel, 45.21 GF%

5v5 P/60
Bear: 0.83 P/60
Dumba: 0.75 P/60

Yeah, Dumba was bad last year due to lingering effects from a serious injury. So it makes sense that his stats from last year are bad. Look at the two years prior and this season, put him with McDavid and Draisaitl, and see all of these numbers skyrocket.

Turns out you need context to compare these kinds of stats across teams.

And Bear was a rookie last year. And from the looks of things Dumba is still dealing with "lingering effects" - so why should anyone trade for him? Keep your "lingering effects", the Oilers will keep their better players & their 1st round pick in the deepest draft in 15-20 years.

I see a bunch of shots on goal metrics for a player that doesn't have any goals. What are the stats for goals against when Bear is defending in critical situations? I'll go out on a limb and say he didnt get dinged for the goal against when he was supposed to be on the ice but wasn't last night or when he's still in the offensive zone and there is a goal.
