Description
this team is low key good. Great forward and LD depth. Could even make Hertl 2c, Bords 3c and promote Labanc for another look. Either way this team is quite good.

So why are you trading Balcers for almost nothing?

would you rather have Balcers in the top 9 over guys like Labanc and Donato? His goals this season have come from: a perfect pass by Hertl, tipping a Couture shot that was already likely to score, and a rebound that Meier hit the stick of the opponent. Sure maybe trade for more, but are we forgetting the worst team in the league waived him? He's a role player who succeeds on helping large talent around him, and we have 20 versions of that

Balcers is a role player at best and trading Burns was so that I could extend Hertl, Ferraro, and Leonard. Which would you rather have>

This is a solid team with a good deal of talent so that's kind of nice. Not totally sure about the goalies, but the forward group and defense actually looks NHL-caliber.

But yeah instead of trading Gambrell and Balcers for virtually nothing, I think I'd rather see Donato go to be honest. Don't get me wrong I like the guy, but we could get some decent value out of him at the moment (a 2nd rounder plus) and I think Balcers is a more dynamic player than Donato as well. Gambrell I could live with moving on from, but having him around for the center depth would probably be nice especially if no one's offering good return.

I am still not convinced Chmel or Chek are going to work out. Happy to be proven wrong. Same with True. Not sure getting rid of Balcers is going to benefit us.

Gambrell is a great player, but I don't know if he ever ends up as a 3C or 4C. Clearly not a 1C or 2C.

Chekhovich I am totally on the hype train for. With his stellar play and production in the KHL, it's hard not to be. If Sasha does not work out, the team would have enough to sign a decent more proven 3C. Fourth line, who knows who will be on it.

As this article says https://thehockeywriters.com/sharks-future-winger-depth-strong/ the Sharks have so many young wingers, and I think they make one another expendable. Balcers has a higher IQ or knack for getting to good spots than Leno or Donato, but that is a teachable part of the game. The skill those two have over Balcers would take much longer to develop. That higher upside makes me want them over Rudy.

Also to reiterate: Balcers was waived by the worst team in the league a few weeks ago, and now some want to tout him as a future second line talent... he's on the second line more so because the team sucks and chemistry is working currently than it is his talent. I would expect Leno or Donato to overtake him soon

That KHL to NHL transition always concerns me. Good over there, but will they be here?

I get that Balcers was waived and don't disagree, but it's working out and maybe he improves?

Also, I can't tell if this team is destined for another high pick or not with their play this season, but I agree this is a young, talented, and fast team.
