Description
Hörnqvist is currently tied with Crosby with 18 points.....

Domi 23gp 3g 4a 7p
Anderson 19 gp 9g 3a 12p

JVR.... leads the NHL in p/60 with 5.159.... people were talking about how bad he sucks...

Backstrom.. is 9th in p/60 and overall points. People said he was was on the decline....

Matthews is a freak... division kind of sucks but hes still killing it. could get 50 in 50

Tom Wilson 17 points in 19 games.... not bad for a glorified 3rd liner nylander has 19 in 23 games .... remember Nylander is WAY better... lol

2 rookie goalies are playing pretty amazing and MAF might be the best goalie in the league (too much?) hardly a cap dump that vegas gives you a 1st to take now

i missed a bunch but from the hockey i watched these are my picks..... let me know who i forgot

added McAvoy....imo hes a top 5 dman in the league.

Tim Stutzle - “he sucks defensively” “the charts say so” “his line gets outplayed every time he’s on the ice” 🤡

Very true. The unfortunate part is there's a large portion of Leafs fans that hate him, which is dumb.

We are a ridiculous fan base, way too emotional. But, hard to blame them when there's been decades of mediocrity.

Nylander living rent free in everyone's head.

oh no .... i just love how Leaf fans glorify him and shat on Wilson. it must kill you knowing that a "goon 4th liner" is a the better player lol

Kaprizov will win it but he’s 23. Stutzle is like on a 5 game point streak or something. On pace for over 50pts over 82 games.

Imagine if player values were 100% decided based on how many points they get, or if it were based on a super small sample size.

These are not in defense of any of the trades or hot takes, however:
-Hornqvist (Great trade for Florida. Pitt moved him to free up a bit of space, but took back more money long term. Matheson is a plug).
-Josh Anderson (1 pt. in last 6 games).
-Max Domi (Had 1 good year)
-JVR (23.8% shooting percentage...seems unlikely to continue, but JVR is a good guy. All of his underlying numbers are pretty much in line with his career averages.)
-Backstrom (Did someone say he was done? Interesting small sample size numbers though...23.8% shooting percentage, and the worst possession numbers of his career)
-Matthews is, and has been awesome.
-As @Ritzy said, Nylander living rent f*cking free. (Also, Nylander's numbers are actually better than Wilson's, so there's that...)
-Vanecek's numbers are exactly league average, so there's that. Lankinen=GOAT, and MAF=GOATx2. Also, small sample size alert.
-McAvoy is good $hit.

Yeah, I just feel like if I was a Leafer, I'd be extremely happy with the team right now.

Joel Edmundson is Karl Alzner 2.0. He leads the league in +/- while playing on a team that only has a +5 goals differential.

He's racking up the points but is getting caved in on 5v5, its really odd to see his metrics and then see the point totals

That’s what ppl are saying about Stutzle. But Ottawa was historically bad the first 10 games, everyone was very bad, but the team is recovering and everyone is playing well now

Nylander doesnt live rent free just love how 50% undervalues him 50% overvalues him. dude is a good player. Wilson imo is better but people say "the gap is massive". not really.
Vanecek was never suppose to be an "NHL level" goalie. the fact he is even at league average is pretty sweet. Lankinen is surprising and MAF is proving everyone wrong.
Domi was massively overrated and Anderson (im was guilty of this) was very underrated this offseason
Jvr was considered a cap. just love he is killing it.
Backstrom was said to be on the decline....kid looks good.

Re: Nylander vs. Wilson-They both bring different things to the table. I don't know what the point of comparing the two would be, but every fan bases values their players differently. Honestly, if I'm in the playoffs, I want Wilson. If I'm in the regular season, I want Nylander.
Re: Domi-I honestly think he's something in between where people value him. IMO, he's a solid 2nd line *winger* (Not center. He definitely shouldn't play center), who probably puts up 50-60 points with solid line mates. It's his first time playing the trap as well, which is probably not super easy to adjust to.
Re: Anderson-I think Habsters were fired up to get him! I'm curious to see what his numbers will be like after the season is over though.
Re: JVR-Personally, I though of him as a cap dump (less of a cap dump per se., and more of a "You'll need to retain or send something with him because he's paid too much), but only because they needed that $7 mil elsewhere. Nice to see him doing well, but I'm curious to see if the right side of that D-core can hold up.

Cheers!
