David Pagnotta is a B level insider. Eklund throws random rumours and hope they stick. Pagnotta broke many trades from last season, broke the Tavares signing, and Elliotte Friedman gave him a lot of recognition

he said they have interest in a player LIKE Rakell....so a top 6 forward, like what Friedman and the bunch have been saying that if the Leafs can make it work with the Cap they would like to be able to add a top 6 forward..

He is not on the Elliotte Friedman or Dreger level, but he is someone I believe in terms of rumours. Eklund is a reporter I would never trust

and Pagnotta is someone that the majority of fan bases dont trust for a second...hes a leafs fan who has an interest in California teams like LA and the Ducks, hes a fan boy who wants to be an insider, thats it.

But you re missing the point..what he said...he said LIKE Rackell, which means absolutely nothing, so a top 6 fwd who has a cheap cap hit, who wouldnt be inserted in that for a playoff team who has cap concerns...you can insider a dozen other names instead of Rackell and its the same "report", that is not insider information, its lazy reaching and projection trying to pass it off as reporting

It's really not a good trade for the Leafs for this season. Rakell isn't really need at the winger, especially at the cost of a centre (Kerfoot). The fact you were forced to play Hyman at centre...a position he has never played...well it's bad for the Leafs now...and to give up two futures also

It also makes zero sense from the Anaheim side.

Ducks have no need for more middle 6 forwards, yet alone another center.

Maybe you're right but what is Rakell? He's on pace for 35 point season/pro rated to 82 games. If this play continues what is trade value?

A lot of people have been saying his trade value has decreased. Personally I disagree, here’s why. He’s on a very team friendly contract and I think the Ducks would be willing to retain if they got something in return. Rakell is still a great player, he’s putting up plenty of assists and looks good with the Ducks right now. He’s a little snake bitten yes, but I believe the second he gets actually players around him, he can produce. He’s not the only person on the Ducks to be in the same boat.
