Wild Bill strikes early again

Créé par: Schmidty2go
Équipe: 2020-21 Wild du Minnesota
Date de création initiale: 25 févr. 2021
Publié: 25 févr. 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Billy makes two big moves to finally bring home a #1 Center for a franchise that has never had one. Moves both picks this year (that could be lottery picks) and moves out of the first round of a D-heavy draft. He also solves his expansion draft plans as Kahkonen & Addison allow the Wild to move on from Talbot and Dumba.
Transactions
1.
MIN
  1. Pinto, Shane [Liste de réserve]
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2022 (OTT)
Détails additionnels:
Ottawa can't be in rebuild forever, and have an available D protection spot with the 7-3-1. They added 6 prospects in the first two rounds of the 2020 draft, so they use some assets to add backend scoring while its RHD prospects continue to develop which don't look ready.
OTT
  1. Dumba, Matt
Détails additionnels:
Wild get a needed young Center who can win the dot. They also open up flexibility to go into the expansion draft with a 7-3-1 plan as Addison looks like the real deal for next year.
2.
MIN
  1. Eichel, Jack
Détails additionnels:
Buffalo needs a change of scenery, this isn't working. With Cozens looking to be legit, Eichel's 10m salary will be better divided across players that can help now and 2 picks to continue to build from below.
BUF
  1. Fiala, Kevin
  2. Khovanov, Alexander
  3. Talbot, Cam
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2021 (MIN)
  5. Choix de 1e ronde en 2021 (PIT)
Détails additionnels:
Wild offer 2 1st round picks that could be lottery. A young dynamic goal scorer in Fiala. A legit starting goalie, something Buffalo has been lacking. And a big young center prospect who is almost NHL ready.

Well it does, prove me wrong. If you think a 33 year old back up and your 4th best center prospect gets you Eichel you are on something good

MIN can’t really put together a great Eichel package but Fiala and 2 1sts is a good start. They just aren’t willing to add the Rossi or Boldy that it would take to get it done.

The only scenario he would be included in is if we're offering minimal value on top of him. If you had actually watched him this season you would feel ridiculous asking for what you have been. There is not a single GM that doesn't laugh in your face when you suggest Kaprizov+Rossi+ is the return for Eichel.

And like the Rangers... the Wild hang up the phone. One small correction is that Khovanov is their 4th best prospect (not 4th best Center prospect). I can get your concern around the unknown of this years draft. I can give you that but I think even you know deep down that Eichel won't be playing for Buffalo next year.

Good?, like the Sabres would be upset that the Minnesota Wild didnt just absolutely fleeced them rofl. Eichel isnt going to be moved, you can all calm down

I get the frustration of losing a franchise player (we lost Gaborik... our only franchise player to date)... but what offer are you expecting as a Buffalo fan? 2 lottery picks, a young 30 goal scorer, a starting goalie which even you have to admit hasn't existed in Buffalo since Hasek and a the Wild's 4th best prospect (a Center). You won't get top dollar as your star wants out.... that puts you at a disadvantage. So what does your offer need to look like as I think that is as competitive with any you'll see.....

Sure they are 2 firsts but in a bad draft and nearly impossible to properly scout. Fiala is a good piece but sabres have wings so definitely not a needed position. Talbot is not really an upgrade in net to ullmark and if we lose our 1c I don't see why having a 35 year old starting goalie would be an important piece. And your 4th best prospect for a top 7 Center that's chump change.
I get that there have been ridiculous asking prices. But top centers don't get traded so there really isn't a comparison out there for a guy like eichel.
I can promise a trade for him would probably make a team wince at first not shrugging off your 4th beat prospect.

Unreal. You're doubling down without even understanding why it's a completely off-base comparison. Keep going, I'll try not to stop you.

Dumba has just two full years left on his contract. Ottawa isn't making the playoffs this year or likely the next two even with Dumba. It's a horrid trade for Ottawa.
Now Dumba going to a team more in playoff contention, and has cap...that's a better option.
So you should understand why team make trades...and not fantasying that out of the playoff teams would give up so much for Dumba.

Good that should be the reaction. Eichel has 5 years left. They dont have to do anything with him

Agreed on Kaprizov. I wouldn't trade him straight up for Eichel. He has more points then him this year and is going to be a game changer for the Wild for a long time.....

Cool, then don't move him, I'm okay with that. Don't act like he'll only be moved for Kaprizov+Rossi+ though. Because there is a relatively high chance he will be moved before his contract is up, and the return won't be anything close to that.

Dude, this may not be great for Eichel but to say a 30 goal guy and 2 1sts is a weak offer for Forsberg is absurd.

Actually I don't think it too bad an offer for Eichel. The Sabres get those young assets and cap space.
So many of the Forsberg to the Leafs....is three regulars off the team now and top prospect Liljegren and first.

My post was pointing out that it's pointless to try to have a discussion in good faith about the very realistic chance that Eichel could be traded, because your counter-offer is as ridiculous as all the offers you claim are complete garbage, such as the offer in the OP.

I get that you don't want to trade him, but if you're just going to make horrible counter offers instead of trying to find a deal that works for both sides, there is no point in talking to you. Do you disagree?

A 23 year old 30 goal scorer and 2 1sts is the base, and not a bad one. Haggle over the prospect BUF wants but MIN won’t part with Rossi or Boldy so BUF says no.

Fiala and Khovanov aren't for sale. Wild decline.

Also, Ottawa is not trading a promising prospect in Pinto.

Eichel wont ask for a trade til his ntc kicks in NEXT summer. Why go play in minnesota or ottawa or winnipeg (glass houses and all that, but its not my decision) when you could wait a year before opening your trap and force a trade to new york, chicago, anaheim, la, or one of the florida teams? The sabres arent going to move him because they arent winning, they might move him if he kicks up a fuss next year. And my guess is after the epic fail that was the ror trade, they wont be taken out to the woodshed again. The market will decide whats fair, and if adams and the pegulas dont like it, he gets bonus time here or in the khl if he chooses.

Not sure why this deal is being criticized so much, Fiala is probably our best player (if not a very close second to Kaprizov), and I see him scoring 30 goals in an 82 game season. If you made it Kahkonen and not Talbot, I think the Sabres would have to think about that. That said, I could see the Kings, Rangers, and even Canes offering better packages.

The problem is that to get Eichel, it will almost certainly take Fiala or Kaprizov with quality picks/prospects, but in doing that is Eichel really in a better situation than the one he is leaving in Buffalo? I know our team is winning, but talent-for-talent we're probably pretty equal to the Sabres after this trade. Eichel would have to be patient for our forward prospects to develop.

Buffalo's leverage is until the NTC kicks in... that's when they can/will get the most for him. I get Eichel's strategy to pick his team but if Buffalo is smart they won't wait to let Eichel decide and get less value. So that's why I think he will be moved before the start of next season when the NTC kicks in and because this year, even after adding Hall has turned into a disaster. I think my offer was fair, you don't... that's fine. We'll see what he ends up getting moved for.

I just don't see us putting together a package that beats what other teams could offer. Eichel could not be more of a perfect fit for us: top tier, right shot, offensive, center under 25 and signed long term. But we aren't in a position to give up the assets it would take to get him. Our best bet is to hope Rossi turns into a top line player or hope we can win the lottery for Wright, Savoie, or Lambert in 2022.
