I don't think the Oilers do this. Contrary to popular belief Holland doesn't think it's smart to use assets to trade players or buy out players. VA is good and would definitely help the Oilers but not at that price. Hurt the team more later losing those assets. Besides, Holland knows he has some cap space to work with this year before he make trades like this, mortgaging the future for the present

That feels like an over pay for haula, a 3rd sure, but Kaut too is too much. As for the fit haula makes a lot of sense for the avs

I wanted to chose a player who was on the “outs” with the avs which I assume Kaut won’t be able to crack the roster for sometime as he needs more time to develop. I felt something slightly more than a 3rd was needed but I get what you’re saying. Anyone else in mind?

I get it but it’s almost a more then fair price seeing as Neal could be expensive to move and here you get a top6 guy. I know what you mean but don’t take this as “flame” but the oilers don’t really need to wait and settle. They should be trying to win as much as they can with the talent and elite level players they own. Why wait to win when these picks could be late firsts if this helps them win? They replace Neal with a better player and gain some money.

I wouldn’t say kaut is on the outs, he’s injured right now so he’s haven’t had an opportunity to find a way into the line up and stay there once he does, but he needs to be ready ondw he does, there is no time to baby him along

No issues with a 3rd for haula but Sakic protected Kauts elc last year, can’t see them 8 months later moving him for a rental

Could trade him but for a guy with term still

This is a good example of a misconception that happens very often on this site. Oilers won’t pay to move Neal but if you want a quality asset from oilers need to accept money needs to go both ways. If you want oilers first rounder for VA need to accept Neal has to go back or trade can’t go threw. If don’t want Neal or remaining term that’s understandable best bet is shop VA elsewhere.

The Bruins have no interest in this deal.

Forsberg is better than Debrusk, but not by anywhere near Studnicka and a 1st (& Senyshyn). They have a ton of depth at wing and don't really need him. Not two for 1.5 years.

Not when Studnicka looks legit and you even reference and trade Debrusk for a good prospect and a 1st (which Nashville doesn't need). Huh?

oilers probably do that. Since they are contending, the picks are late rounders, samo is a solid prospect but given the oilers tough left side log jam, he has a small chance of making the lineup. and getting rid of neal is a win

Take out Kaut and it's a fair deal.

Arvidsson is performing worse than Neal. Zero chance Edmonton goes for this. Neal for Arvidsson straight up they consider but probably decline.

Arvidsson is worse than Neal and his contract is longer. He's tiny, too, so he can't play the physical game Neal can - thus if he's not scoring (he's not), then he's not contributing in any way.
