Eichel is only going to push the needle so far, this is just way too much for any player short of McDavid or Mathews as he’s playing now.

I want Eichel as much as the next fan...but we are in no position to trade for him. We have to essentially empty the asset pool to get him. The only teams who should do that are teams in position to win right now...we are not there.

What they want doesn’t matter. The Rangers already made a massive offer in the offseason that included lafreniere. It’s guaranteed 1 top prospect is necessary to get the Sabres to talk. You’ll most likely need to include 2. Otherwise, the Sabres can sit on him.
