Ah, but that's where you're wrong. Kuemper has been putting up superstar-caliber goalie numbers for years. Hamilton and Kuemper are IMO equal value pieces on the ice.

If they can get their hands on Perfetti, they should keep him. I certainly wouldn’t trade a prospect like him for 2 years of Kuemper.

I’d “mostly” agree with this. There’s zero reason to trade him to obtain assets to go out and get Kuemper. However, I do think the Canes will/would entertain offers for him at the deadline if he’s not signed by then.

What’s a teams goal then? To be good in the future? Or to win a Stanley cup now? Trading Dougie means they rather be good in 2 years than try to win a cup now. This CAR team is good and they have plenty of assets to add at the deadline to make a legit run this season.

No to trading Hamilton (unless you can't sign him).

Even more No to acquiring Perfetti only to use him to acquire Kuemper.

Arizona would look pretty hard at your 2021 first, Joey Keane and another major but expendable piece for Kuemper.
