Description
Ducks have to commit to their next generation so they need to rid of some good old players to move into the new.
Transactions
1.
ANA
  1. Deangelo, Anthony (2 400 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
NYR put themselves in an awful situation by devaluing a very high-value asset, now they have to pay to get rid of the asset for optics.
2.
ANA
  1. Appleton, Mason
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2021 (WPG)
  3. Choix de 3e ronde en 2022 (CBJ)
3.
ANA
  1. Eichel, Jack
Détails additionnels:
I know Buffalo fans are wanting everyone's best prospects and 18 1st round picks...But let's be honest, that's not going to happen.

Now, I don't expect this trade to happen either, but this is the type of trade that BUF fans will likely get. However, at least it's better than the O'Reilly trade. A top-pairing LHD, an average 2C, and prospect who's projected to be a 2nd line C, isn't a bad haul.

Sorry, guys, you're not going to get Zegras or Drysdale, you're not going to get any well-stocked teams' #1 prospect because that's not how this league works.

Don't know where you got the idea that the Sabres are trading one of the best centers in the league for a slightly overpaid 3rd defender at best and two middle 6 centers just because they don't have the best GM in the league.

Lol just because you say it doesn’t make it so. That Eichel trade is bad. The league def trades top prospects for stars all the time. Look at the Buf Col trade Grigorenko was still considered a top prospect as was Zadorov. Add in Compher and the first pick in the second.. yeah that’s a bad Eichel offer

I don't think NYR feel the way you feel about DeAngelo. They placed him on waivers to get rid of him but it didn't work because of his contract. But no "devaluing a very high-value asset" considering who he is first

Jeff Gorton and NYR didn't devalue a high-value asset. TDA did that all by himself.
And that Sabres trade... lol

To be fair this trade does clear 880K in 2022 (the buyout dead money), and we have a lot of spending to do that offseason. I wouldn't hate trading and retaining.

7th place, winning 1/3 of their games?

Kind of a strange spot to use, we didn't get here by doing *** like that.

Its not an enviable spot, unless you're Buffalo

We're in a rebuild, we're not vegas, not to mention we're having an awful shooting season as a whole team

When the Ducks were good Lindholm was a top 10 defender in the league in driving play (CF% and xGF% and defending. Since Ducks started sucking he has been their best player and still is in the top 30 D (over 3500 TOI) of the NHL for driving play. He is undeniably a top-pairing defender. Henrique over the past two seasons, on a garbage ANA team, for C's (1000 TOI) was at the very edge of the top 30 Cs for driving play and average 25 goals per season on one of the worst offensive teams in the league. Steel is a highly-touted prospect, probably the Ducks 3rd behind Zegras & Drysdale.

By no means am I saying BUF should make this trade, or even trade EIchel. But if they do, this is the type of trade they will get. But to say they're getting a 3rd defender and two middle-six Cs isn't true. They get a top pairing D, a 2nd line C and a prospect who's probably 3rd in their depth chart behind Cozens & Quinn.

It's makes more sense to spend 1.3M over 2 years than to pay 2.4M in 1 year. This year is over for us and there is 0 reason to try to turn it around since there was never any expectations that we make playoffs from anyone. Next year there should be a better look but still shouldn't be in playoffs even with adding a POWER/HUGHES/BENIERS. 22' will be the year any sensible fan should demand a playoff presence. In the meantime it's season and tweak and settle a bunch of nice bridge deals. All that being said the 1/3 or 2.4M is irrelevant next year since we shouldn't be in compete now mode so if the package coming back to NYR has value for the retention than it makes sense, but in this case it's a 27 year old AHL at best player. ANA can keep their "promising" prospect and send a pick that at least has a small % to become something.
