Strome, since joining the Hawks is a .75ppg player and easily the best player in this trade at 23 years old. How do you logically think McCaan, Petterson equal him let alone asking the Hawks to add additional assets?

the Hawks may not accept, but to say it's not at least "logical" is just ridiculous. Your left side on D currently is a 37 year old, a 4 million dollar 5th defenseman, and quite the defensive liability in Zadorov. Your 2nd line left winger last game was Brandon Hagel. Pettersson can be your future defensive LD to compliment Boqvist well and McCann adds some offensive depth as well; plus Strome had his spot taken by Pius Suter who had his NHL debut last month. Like I said, Chicago may say no, but at least it makes sense

You're not understanding the Hawks players and prospects. Our 2nd line LHD is Beaudin who's 21 years old and a former 1st round pick. We also have both Carlsson and Kalynuk and De Haan fighting for the 3rd line role. De Haan has been playing the right side with Murphy out short term with an injury and when Boqvist was in Covid protocol. The right side is even more stacked though with Mitchell, Boqvist Murphy and a very good prospect in Alec Regula. The hawks are going to move De Haan and maybe Zadarov as well at the TDL or expansion draft....they are not adding they are selling on D. The only need they have is a #1 LHD young player or prospect and Pettersson is definitely not that.

Up front, the Hawks have Kubalik, Debrincat, Kane, and Suter (#1 in goals and #2 in points amongst rookies) plus they have Reichel as a top prospect. Hagel has not played a solidified 2nd line role, Hagel is being throw out there in various roles depending on the flow of the game because of his breakaway speed but is mostly cemented in a 4th line role. Dach, Toews, Strome, Kurashev, Kampf our the centers and because Dach and Toews are out on injury, it's put a temporary squeeze for guys to move to center, but for a rebuilding team, that is okay.

Again, Strome is by far the best player in this trade and beyond the Hawks not needing a depth Defensive prospect, you might be able to argue McCann is interesting to the Hawks but it's not logical as it's certainly not balanced for Strome. Strome could be the odd man out and available for trade in the offseason but Pens would have to come back with a better offer then McCann alone.
