Except they won't because they don't plan on trading him lol. He's having a down year, but good for around 40pt a year and can play in all situations. Doesn't help either that both wings for him have been rotating in and out while Boston tries to get the 2nd line going.
The simple fact is Minnesota fans know who and what Coyle is already. You can't BS us into thinking he's a 1C, because he's not and never will be, he's a high-end 3C who can't hack it in a top six role.
If he could, he probably never would have been dealt to Boston by Minnesota in the first place. Especially if he had ever consistently used that big frame of his to throw people around and was the puck possession monster he continuously flirted he could become to us.
It never happened, and finally found success with Boston because they left him where he belongs, on the 3rd line as it's center. He needs consistency and for stuff to not be moved around in order to be effective, which is why he's struggling right now.
Greenway up until this year looked to be Charlie Coyle 2.0, minus being a center bit, as he showed the same tendencies as Chucky almost to the tee. Except, Guerin chewed him an absolute new one last year after the play-ins and to his credit has been a different player so far this year. Message sent, message received. He came into camp having lost weight, but added muscle, and just plain looks like a different player out there. He has turned into what Wild fans hoped both he
and Coyle would become.
There isn't a chance in hell we take Coyle back, let alone for what you're asking, intended fun or not, Coyle doesn't hold that much value.
For the record, Joel Eriksson-Ek makes a better 1C then Coyle would. 🙄
