I think max gildon and two seconds are too much at this point.

It's 2021, Huberneau is the better player on a better contract. Malkin would likely on waive to go to a contender, and virtually all those teams are near the cap, so they would have to return 9m in cap to the Pens which would likely weaken their team.
How's this. If the Leafs feel Malkin is a difference maker for the next 1.5 years....Malkin for Nylander, but Pens would have to retain 3m
Gentlemen. This is all really conjecture. The real window to Malkin passed a few years ago. I see this being similar to the Flames waffling on Iginla when it was so clear they were a middling team for the last few years of his tenure.
At age 35, Iggy landed Kenny Agostino (yet to stick), Ben Hanowski (who?), and a 1st.
At the point of that deal, Iggy was still healthy.... where Malkin seems to sepnd time on the IR. When he is not he is still more dynamic - but I said when.
And sure, you are gonna get an extra year on Malkin, where the Pens got Iggy as a rental. I still don't see in today's NHL a team mortgaging THAT MUCH of their future for an aging foward, regardless of who good he maybe be.
Would the Avs move Alex Newhook and a 1st for Malkin? I honestly think no. A first and Shane Bowers? Maybe.
The thought of Malkin landing Huberdeau is laughable. Never going to happen. A 1st and Owen Tippett would be debatable. A 1st and Heponiemi? Maybe.
Don't get me wrong, Malkin is a HOF player. Dynamic, a force. But he is all that when healthy - which over the last few years is less often. He is 34.....
He is just at a point where the Pens likely ride out the contract. They will never get what the want.
