A deal around Stepan Fleury is interesting and could work, but Ottawa giving away 1st round picks for an aging dman don't seem wise to me.

I'd assume the first is involved because of Zaitsev's deal. Mind you, this is the first time in his career that Zaitsev is actually posting positive possession stats, so there's that.

Lottery protecting the 2021 1st might be a bad idea, because the 2021 draft is wide open, and any of the top picks could go 1-2-3 or even 4-5-6. The 2022 draft has a few clear cut great picks at the top, and that 1st is much much more valuable. It’s too big a gamble to trade either of the 2021 or 2022 1st round picks.
