Description

Is it time for Nashville to start rebuilding? It seems difficult with big contracts like Johansen and Duchene, but you'd have to imagine if they continue this downfall, they'll likely sell some pieces at the trade deadline for picks and younger players. All feedback welcome, and if a trade seems lopsided in favor of Nashville, just know that Barclay Goodrow fetched a first-rounder from Tampa Bay last season just proving deadline trades tend to swing towards the seller instead of the contender. Also, don't pay too much attention to the lines, the trades are the main part of this post.

Could be a solid center and faceoff man for Minnesota. Wild are bottom 5 in faceoff percentage, and could use a guy like Haula that can help them win more draws and put up points in the middle/bottom six if they are still in the playoff race.

Edmonton could use some more offensive production out of their middle/bottom six, and Granlund has shown he can put up 15-20 goals and be a solid player either at center or on the wing. Could be great with RNH and Draisatl, or on the wing of McDavid's line too if need be.

This is a great fit in my opinion for a team like the Boston Bruins. He's a tough player that is a solid defensive asset that can be very useful for the Bruins in the bottom six and on their PK. The Bruins notoriously give up more than most teams at the deadline, and rather than a first, they give their second and a guy like Bjork, who is only 24, and will have a chance to develop in Nashville's top 6 in the future.

This trade likely happens sooner rather than at the deadline due to Rinne being more of a vet and reliable backup instead of the elite starter he was a few years ago. Blackwood has been on fire, but in a season with so many back to back games (especially now for the Devils due to most of their games getting postponed), they can't exhaust Blackwood every night and could use a vet like Rinne that can give them a solid chance to win when Blackwood has the night off.

Wild & Erik haula had a falling out. It's why he was given up in expansion. He's not com back to wild as long Parise, & Suter are there. Frankly, there's a reason he's been on so many teams in his short career. Personality wise, he's not being brought into that wild locker room

if they were really serious about rebuilding they would trade all their best players to get huge returns (i.e. Josi, Ellis, Ekholm, Forsberg, Arvidsson, Duchene, etc.)

This is likely the first step, and then in the offseason they could start giving up guys like Advisson, Ekholm, and Forsberg. Other guys like Josi, Ellis, Duchene, Johansen likely are stuck due to contract term, or the amount of money they are making.

Edmonton should've signed Granlund in the offseason, hell they should've kept his brother around on the 4th line if that's what it took plus I'm pretty sure Granlund is from the same city in Finland that Pulujarvi is from, could've helped with JP's transition back to the NHL.

All these moves doesn’t look like a rebuilding team. Just a team selling their ufa’s at the deadline. As said in the above post. Rebuilding is selling off some of your core. So what would teams offer for the likes of josi,ekholm,Ellis,Arvidsson,jarnkrok,sissons and johansen? I know no one wants johansen’s contract but I bet if he goes to a better coached and a better system team he could turn it around.
The biggest part of Nashville’s rebuild has to be letting poile and his whole staff and starting over

Boston not paying that for him. Change the 2nd to a 5th or Bjork to Shen you are in the ballpark. But that’s not anyone they’d be targeting anyway.

They need a PP QB d man or 2nd line RW to replace Kase who count be counted on. Granlund would be more of a target than Jarnkrok.
