Description

Edmonton saves a lot of cap space in this deal. They take a shot on Connolly, while Florida takes a chance on Neal. Since Neal has the more expensive contract, Edmonton sends over Archibald and a 7th, while they acquire Acciari.
This deal would be made with the assumption that Florida would not make any deadline deals. Archibald is an upgrade over Acciari, and Connolly's name has been out there for quite some time.
Both Neal and Connolly can be bought out this summer, with Neal costing about $1.9M per year for 4 years, while Connolly costs about $1.1M per year for 4 years.

I don't mind this idea on the surface. Connolly has not been good this year. But the difference in him and Neal with that cap requires the Oilers to add considerably.

Although info agree EDM would bed to add but it would not be much more. Neal makes 2 mil more for the same amount of time and looks like he may actually do more for FLD. Archibald is a slightly better overall player then Acciari

Why would Florida take on a whole $5M in cap when they could trade a guy they want to get rid of and only take on $2M...

The reason I did not add much more from EDM's side is because of the buyout. It is such a similar buyout, so if EDM is prepared to buy out Neal this summer, why would they trade a bunch of assets to save $800k in a buyout.

They can trade Connolly separately. They don’t want to trade Cookie. Vegas already showing interest in BC.
