I'm not sure your idea of a riot is the same... I was there both times, ppl were "celebrating" in the streets there was no rioting lol the arrests that were made was because people who had nothing to do with hockey were trying to take advantage of the situation and break into a few stores on ste.catherine

Not related, but the biggest riot in franchise history was in 1955, when Maurice Richard got suspended for the remainder of the season. It was viewed as a racist and unfair act. There had been more than 100 arrests and more than 100k$ in damage, which is huge for the time. Most importantly, it was one of the sparks of the Quiet Revolution which would lead Quebecers to take control over their province and get out of the wealthy English-Canadians domination. Rocket Richard became a symbol of political resistance and a cultural icon of a nation. Crazy how intense and meaningful hockey can be here.

That's what I thought, to you celebrating is rioting 👏 To everyone else and the Oxford dictionary, Rioting is "the violent disturbance of the peace by a crowd"

There was no violent disturbance of the peace by a crowd. The crowd was elated and celebrating the habs victory, the few who weren't were **** disturbing. Most cops were even there cheering and honking their horns as well. But what do I know, it's not like I was actually there or anything 🤷‍♂️

The riot that we were referring to had 25 arrests and a whole bunch of tear gas used.

“The real hockey fans were just celebrating, and some bad apples took advantage of the situation to riot and loot,” is literally the story of every single sports related riot. Figure it out.

Alright buddy, believe what you want. I guess you're the type of person to believe the world is flat because the media says it is?

Wait what? What media is saying the world is flat? Pretty sure that’s not a thing.

I just don’t think you know what a riot is or something. Seems like what you meant to say was, “the real hockey fans didn’t participate in the riot.” I wouldn’t have had any issue with that. The message you put forth was because the real hockey fans weren’t the ones that rioted, the riots didn’t happen. That’s just profoundly stupid.

A celebration that leads to arrests, looting and more is a riot. You can argue the people have no correlation to the Habs fans but they did. Some were Habs fans

If the celebrating crowd truly did turn violent and it led to arrests, looting and more than sure it's a riot. But like I said, from what I saw and I will trust my own eyes over two guys who are reading a report after the fact, there were not many fans if any at all, actually disturbing the peace in the crowd. The CROWD was celebrating, the idiots, who were causing property damage and looting were the ones who got arrested. Anywho y'all it's been a real riot shooting the **** with you both, I guess we'll just agree to disagree ✌️

Ya. You can try to say that something that happened didn’t happen. So you don’t believe police reports etc.
