I've said this before and I'll say it again:

Hall doesn't get moved until deadline if he gets moved. By then teams likely have between 10-15 games left in the season, Toronto has about 15. Leafs acquiring any player from the US have to quarantine the player for 14 days, that's 8 games for the Leafs after the deadline. Meaning they're paying for 7 GAMES of a player. They are not, & no team is not, paying 5 quality assets for a 7 game rental.

Deadline players this year will go for A LOT less than normal. I'd be shocked if Hall gets more than a 1st and a B prospect if he's moved.

This is a fair point, but also I think overreaching. Teams don’t trade for rentals for the regular season. They trade for players for the playoffs and a chance at the cup. Sure, less games means less time getting used to players you would be playing with. But when you say “pay for 7 games” it’s incredibly disingenuous

Players aren't paid for playoffs though. Hall has never proven to be a playoff performer that can put his team over the top. Nothing in playoffs are guaranteed so they're not overpaying

My point is that teams in general when acquire a rental are for the playoffs, not the regular season as much (some for sure, not saying nothing). This year, on this trade specifically, Tor would already have a spot locked up most likely. Whether Hall would play 7 reg season games or 20 would be largely irrelevant in the all Canada division. So you would be acquiring for the playoffs. Not saying that Tor should do it btw, just that the premise of players getting less this year because of less reg season games may not be totally accurate on why.
