Replace Samberg with Dylan DeMelo and Niku with Mason Appleton and we say Yes.

We can't really do that Ducks trade because of the expansion draft. Who do you expose? If we're adding a pure rental that's one thing, and the price will reflect that. Giving up all that so that then one of JMO, Lindholm, Pionk or DeMelo get taken in the expansion draft and it's an easy pass for me.

If Lindholm had 5 years left, maybe....but he has one season plus 14 games...be realistic

Seattle can have DeMelo if they want him, easy decision as far as I'm concerned, protect Lindholm, Morrissey, Pionk and work out a deal for Seattle to select DeMelo.

Which is precisely why I suggested including DeMelo instead of Samberg, who's exempt.

I am. If you want the Ducks to part ways with their best defenseman, you better make it worth their time. A B prospect a bottom pair defenseman and a late first won’t do it.

Believe it or not, I think it is better for both teams. Winnipeg escapes the expansion draft problem raised by @jimmyjets and implicitly acknowledged by @MisstheWhalers above. As for Anaheim, I know Samberg is an A prospect and ready to start his career, and probably has a higher upside than DeMelo, but I think that we would profit more from an experienced RD who is coming into his prime years and can help us right now.
