If we are trading a Top pair Dman like Dumo, I want Batherson, Formention, & a High pick back. But Mathy for White sounds around fair by itself

No offence, but there are much, much better defensemen that Ottawa could get for Batherson + Formenton + a high pick. Just because the pens trade Top-15 picks for above-average players, doesn't mean your above-average players are worth Top-15 picks.

Also, Ottawa is likely going to be running into a massive log jam at LD in the next 2 years... Chabot, Sanderson, Brannstrom, Wolanin, Kleven.

The OP trade value isn't that bad by any means, but White has been playing well for the past couple weeks and looks like a solid 3C/RW. I'm fine with his contract if that's the case. There's gonna be 2-3 years left on it by the time we could even run into cap issues, so don't really care to get rid of it. If he does sh*t the bed for the rest of the year, they can just buy him out at 1/3 of the cost. But I don't see that happening.

I think the pens should ride out the Matheson deal for at least the rest of the year. And losing Dumoulin would hurt them big time in the short term.

This is not good asset management of Dumo.

Ottawa doesn't want Matheson, Pettersson, or Dumoulin, as has been repeated again and again in many many ACGM threads.

This is pretty simple, Matheson has five more seasons after this season at $4.875MM cap hit, and is not better than Chabot, and will be quickly passed by Sanderson, and Ottawa is not paying Matheson $4.875MM to play 3rd pair for 5 seasons. Dumoulin's cap hit is $4.1MM for two more seasons, and is in the same position as Matheson, even though he's better than Matheson, he's not beating out Chabot, and will be passed by Sanderson. Pettersson has a cap hit of $4.025MM for four more seasons after this season, and even though he's not listed here in this trade, he's in the same position as Matheson and Dumoulin.
