Steel hasn't panned out for the ducks, he also doesn't hold that much value. Hayes got a prospect, a 1st and a 2nd as a rental. this is fine

Hayes before he took the next step. He wasn’t exactly the Hayes you see today. Just like JT Miller isn’t the same as when we traded him. Kerfoot has value with his term, maybe add rodion and a 1st for those ducks

That's pretty funny. There's a few reasons why this wouldn't work:
-Ducks don't need anymore mid-bottom 6 wingers (They have a ton!). NHL level offensive upside.
-Sam Steel is 23. Maybe he only ends up a 3C, which isn't a huge deal. Hard to judge his offensive output given that the Ducks abundance of mid 6 wingers.
-These are both moot points given the fact that Getzlaf won't waive his NMC anyway. Value-wise, he's still an elite possession player.

You really should check players' contracts before talking about retention. Anaheim wouldn't retain more than $1.5 million on Getzlaf because he's only owed $3 million now.

I don't think that you can argue that Kerfoot has any ceiling higher than a #3C. That may be Steel's ceiling, maybe not, but clearly, Kerfoot for Steel is roughly fair. Even as a 30-game rental, Getzlaf is worth more than a future second and two B prospects.
