Pens trade Sens

Description
Pens get C.White, a right-handed shot and right-handed stick to take Face-Off’s. That they definitely need. He’s not great at Face-offs or lived up to his contract or Potential, but he’d be a good 3C in my opinion. If he’s your 1C or 2C, then you are probably not a play-off team.

Pens get N.Paul. Can play either Center or Wing. Played well for Ottawa last year in his 1st full year in the NHL. Starting off this season well too. I’m a fan!!

Pens get A.Zub. One of the best D-men signed this year as a Free agent From the KHL. Has adjusted to the NHL and the American game and smaller rink well
So far.

Ottawa gets M.Pettersson. A 24 year old, top 4, LHD, signed to a good, reasonable long term deal. Pettersson and Chabot are the same age. Chabot, Pettersson, E.Branstrom could be the Sens LHD for the next 4-5 years until Jake Sanderson is ready.

Sens get another young(22 years old) player in OcConnor; that is NHL ready and has gotten NHL experience this year. Big kid. Power Forward.

And Sens get a 2nd round pick this year.

I like Pettersson, but I don't like moving any of those pieces at this stage. Not a judgment on trade value, but I think those players will all be important parts of this team in the future.

Tried to send young players back that fit the Sens timeline too. OConnor is gonna be good. Was the Ivy League player of the year last year(or the last year college hockey played a season). He won a roster spot and taxi squad spot this year out of training camp. He’s gonna be good. He’s only 22.

And Pettersson is 24 years old(same age as Chabot)and signed to a good reasonable deal, long-term.

C.White hasn’t lived up to his potential and contract if u ask me. I think he is talented and still potential there. But I think he needs out of Ottawa.

Yessir.

Been saying MP-White trade for a long time now.

Other moves are decent but I think I prefer the straight 1 for 1 deal.

This is a step backwards for Ottawa.

That 2nd round pick is maybe four seasons away, or more. Look ad the 2016 and 2017 draft on hockeydb.com, and ask yourself, how many of these 31 guys drafted in the 2nd round are contributing to their team as a full time player today?

O’Connor might be a good player one day, but these Ottawa players are here now, and playing well enough that you want them.

Sanderson is a top5 pick, and will be ready sooner rather than later. It’s believed he’ll only spend one season at UND, and then transition to the pros with JBD and Pinto next season. He’ll be on the fast track. There’s a huge difference between top5 picks, picks chosen in the late 1st round, and 2nd round picks, when it comes to timetables, but there no set rule. Each player develops on their own timeline.

So basically, even a seemingly fair offer isn’t going to be accepted if it doesn’t make sense for the other team.

Pettersson is 24 and a top 4 LHD. Same age as Chabot. Signed long term, to a good, reasonable deal. Plays 20 plus minutes a game.

Jake Sanderson won’t be in the NHL for probably 2 more years. 20-21-22 years old. It’s different now with prospects and devolving them with not all leagues up and running. And Probably 3 more years b4 he’s an everyday pairing. D-men definitely take longer to develop too. They don’t just jump in and play 20 minutes a night in the NHL.

OConnor is 22 years old and is playing in the NHL this season. For the Penguins, not a rebuilding team, a team that will take every opportunity to compete for play-offs and then a SC. Obviously they trust he’s NHL ready and can contribute consistently to a NHL play-off caliber team. He won a roster spot out of camp.

Again, he was the Ivy League player of the year last year(or the last year college hockey played a full season). He might be good??

I feel like the trade is pretty even in straight value but I don't think Ottawa would take it either. O'Connor was rated the Pens 7th best prospect by Scott Wheeler and that's nothing to scoff at but he might be a bit redundant with the Sens given Ottawa's current depth at LW along with the prospects they already have coming up in house. If Pettersson was a RHD then it might be a little more enticing but upgrading the left side of the second pair is probably not worth the downgrade of the 2C, 3C/LW and 3RD even with the 2nd round pick and prospect.

Honestly, aren't we done with misfit island will save the team mentality.
Every year it's the same crap shoot, bring in a guy who struggled over there and he'll magically play better over here. Yet in like 80% of cases it hasn't worked and we've been chasing ghosts.
Jankowski....fail.
Sceviour ..... fail.
Ceci.......fail.
Matheson...to early to tell. He's been ok. Nothing great, just ok.

Lets just stop while we are behind on misfit island and accept the loses instead of playing another hand at the rigged casino.

Scott Wheeler is a clown.
OConnor is not the penguins 7th best forward.
