Honestly it could go either way for me. Love Kreids as a leader for this young team but his contract already isn't looking too great and he no longer has a place in the top 6. Would love to get some cap flexibility after this season and avoid the next 6 years of Kreider's contract (the last few of which he will probably be absolutely brutal, since he's already somewhat declining and playing in a bottom 6 role).

Kreider isn't waiving his NMC for Montreal, And no freaking way is Alec Martinez worth a 1st round pick.

first thing I was thinking when I saw this.
Player wise, NY needs to move a forward, Habs get more talent for playoff push that have skill and can play a heavy game. I think that's a great pickup for them.
I'm just curious. What if they left him exposed for Seattle to offset the cap, or used him as bait for Seattle to maybe dump a contract or something. Kind of like Rental Krieder.
