I would love to have the hometown Damon Severson on our team but honestly, I wouldn't be willing to move Samberg. I realize for this trade to happen, NJ would want a top young D prospect...but as WPG I think I say no.

There isn't room right now I agree, but next year there is. I wouldn't be surprised if Samberg leapfrogs Stanley in camp next season. I would be okay with substituting Stanley for Samberg like you said though if NJ would go for it. He's been great don't get me wrong but Samberg potential in my opinion is higher.

a 1st, a "c" forward prospect plus a defense prospect was what I had in mind...I dont mind if Stanley goes instead...both are decent imo...I just think most of us fans had written off Stanley so we dont have much attachment to him...lol

You're giving up a lot for a defensive and possession nightmare (two things that compound when you put them together), especially if you want him to play top pair. Yikes. But hey, as a Blues fan, I'd be all for Winnipeg doing this.

I don't know anything about CJ Suess...but 2.5 years of Severson is pretty valuable to NJD, so they are unlikely to move him.

I agreed ... most of the experience on the NJ blue line leaves as UFAs this year. Too much youth to let Severson go for anything less than a gross overpayment.

I agree that we need a good RD but the way Paul Maurice seems to not play the talented young stars (Heinola/ Samberg) so we need a LD to help run the power play. Morrissey is a great defensman but getting a guy like Fowler would be great. Also if we put a package together with Samberg & Pionk and send that to Carolina for a guy like Dougie Hamilton that would greatly help our right side.

Those D pairings would be really good.
