Soooo about Danault

Équipe: 2020-21 Canadiens de Montréal
Date de création initiale: 1 févr. 2021
Publié: 1 févr. 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
1. He has missed a lot of scoring chances thus far
2. In the offensive zone, plays die on his stick
3. He thinks $30M/6 years is not enough money....
4. If he only avgs 1pt/2 games this season then we should trade his rights for next to nothing after the season is over

Sure, any team would take him with your description of the guy. Not like Habs would get a huge return out of the guy if you were speaking truth.

What other teams will get is an immensely good defensive center.

He's not in his 18-19 form, but he's still good. He was never paid to score goals and never will. We'll want him during our eventual playoffs run, especially if they are complications with Kotkaniemi's health

He returned to the game against Calgary, but man that was a hard hit to the head. I can see it having some consequences, but it's only speculation.

Danault is fine, he's the kind of player that if you don't notice him, he's doing his job.
I don't care if he drives offence or not, he shuts down the offence of opposing teams and that's what he's there to do.

I notice him missing the net from the wide open slot and not converting any of his odd-man rushes lol.
Tbh, I just can't fathom paying a defensive guy more than $5M a year. Then again, I see what Byron is making...

nah pump the brakes on Danault. Sure he's not scoring but I would rather him have the chances and miss them then not getting chances at all. (obviously scoring would be a plus)
I do NOT trade players like this. He is widely recognized as a great 200' Centre.
I'm not sure what he wants as for an AAV, but 5.5 is fine in my opinion for a player that plays PP, PK, can shut guys down, plus get you 50 points.

plus I don't think he would fetch the return MTL wants. so why trade him if you don't have too. He obviously has to sign to be here but if he want to be here, then I would do everything I could, within reason, to keep him.

I think it's the 'within reason' we disagree on, but I agree with what you're saying somewhat. Anything starting with 6M is beyond reason and I think 5.5 is too much.
To add/correct two things :
1- Danault doesn't play PP. Sometimes he's out there just to win the draw if the other guys struggle.
2- Danault has eclipsed 50 points once in his career. He is not a 50 pt player. He's a 40 pt player.

1. you're right. he use to play PP but this year he has fell out of it I think based on a. recent play and b. way to much depth
2. I say he is a 50 point guy as he had 53 the one year and he had 47 last year with 10 less games. I assume he would have got 50 usually. never know tho.

he is a tough case. You want to keep him but at 6 million is to much. I just know that once you trade or lose him....you are looking for a player like him again.
