I think this team has to trade their 1st rounder for some deadline adds. This team is already pretty deep, but the injury bug is so bad to them. A goalie and another forward minimum. Raanta and Brassard perhaps. Something like that just for depth.

Agreed, though neither of those guys would be on my list if I'm honest. Brassard we've been there before and he's more brass bollard. Better to put a kid out there than go that route again. But yeah, we're pretty deep and it's not so bad having the injuries early (compared to the playoffs) but eventually something has to give. Six guys out already including a lot of the veteran leadership is rough. That doesn't even take into account the #3C area of need we had from the start. Tbf to Miska the team didn't play well tonight in front of him but I think he'd have liked to have the GWG back. Other than that he's played pretty well both outings but not sure he's a guy you can rely on to be your #3G. Time will tell if they don't make any moves of course.

The Avs are very deep, but they're also very injury ridden. I don't know any team I can think of in recent memory that had their starter and backup injured, forcing them to play a 3rd string goalie in the playoffs. I don't think there's any harm in bringing in Raanta and some depth skaters as well.

I agree, I just think there are better targets than Raanta & Brassard if we're going to have use up picks/prospects.

None, and it's kind of tongue in cheek. The ones on LTIR are the currently injured, the 'joke' is putting the majority of the rest of the squad on the IR list, as we've got 6 out already.

Ouch. This is a good team with some really good players injured. As a Flames fan who is still salty about 18/19 hope this teams injury bug gets better soon

If somebody doesn’t go on LTIR they’re in a tough spot they had to dress 11 forwards 6 d and 2 goalies tonight to be compliant. If all of the guys hurt don’t play in the next game and nobody is moved to LTIR they will have almost $20M sitting in the press box.

MN had Bryz in net in 13-14. Harding (MS, was having an amazing year), Kuemper, and Backstrom (wasn't good anyway) were all injured. They had Bryz (starter) and Curry (backup) in the 2nd round vs CHI.

It's a possibility but so is neck or maybe even a facial injury. I really wish the NHL would be more specific about injuries.

What's up boys?

I've been following your posts on here and I think you'd be a great addition to the GM Game here on CapFriendly. The game is basically a season long Arm-Chair team where you get to make trades, draft, etc. and we have a formal scoring system for playoffs. If you are interested and want to know more, just quote and reply to this post and I'll answer any questions you've got. We've got some openings for assistant GMs that would involve you helping GMs by offering input on all aspects of the game.

They should be accruing deadline cap space by assigning players to the taxi squad and calling them up for game days only. But you're certainly right, LTIR would make it a bit easier. They could still do that with these guys. Teams are able to retroactively place guys on LTIR, meaning they get the cap relief from the retroactive date.

That MIN team was pretty good, again, injuries can have a bigger impact than any opponent/schedule.

So does Grubauer and Francouz. There's not a lot of options out there. Raanta, Dubnyk, who else? I don't think CAR wants to move either of their G's. VGK likes their depth as well. Raanta>Dubnyk. If you can find a better replacement absolutely go for it.

That simply isn't true. Hockey players go through injury issues pretty frequently and last year's timing sucked but they haven't been injured all that much more than a lot of other guys. The only reason you pay more attention to it is because of their status as contenders. I guarantee Ranta has spent a hell of a lot more time on IR than Gru or Frankie ever have.

They get injured far more than the average NHL goaltender. And they don't have the status of contenders if they can't stay healthy. That's why they need the depth. They would've been much more competitive against Dallas had they not been injury ridden.

Again, not true (your recency bias is showing) but if all there is available at the moment is Ranta and Dubnyk, then no thanks. I can agree that depth is a good thing but, at this point in their careers, those two guys aren't any better than someone like Werner and will cost them a lot. Better to wait for something better to come along.
