Habs like Danault enough not to do this trade....but I like your logic.

Habs counter with Landeskog for Byron

Landeskog is the better player but his contract is up at the end of the season and is due for a raise. Byron is signed for two more seasons

Danault would be great at 3C but the Habs would want a bit more. Maybe a decent prospect or pick. That being said, they believe they're a contender so I doubt they deal someone like that for Compher; Danault may be expiring but they'll cross that bridge in the offseason I imagine.

That's exactly what you meant. Danault and Compher are not comparable neither.

With contracts coming up I'm assuming the habs would prefer a future package for Danualt. And even if he doenst come with an extension he'd still get more than this based off previous year rentals

if you include team control and role....i think they are more comparable than danault/landeskog.

after seeing what montreal gave up to get anderson and how much they signed him and gallagher to i dont think the habs can afford to acquire or retain landeskog. they'd have to mortgage the future.

danault losing his role to kk and has already complained to the media about his role only a few months ago. i don't think his vaule is all that high. he's only put up 3 points in 8 games while playing 16 minutes a night. probably a matter of time before he goes public again.
