Detroit declines. They are much better off with Namestnikov. No need or want for Kempný. Draft picks, prospects or both depending who is getting traded.

Looking your contracts next year aside from DeKeyser DET don't have a single NHL level LHD under contract. I think there's a slot for Kempny.

On the other hand the youth of DET forwards could fill the place Namestnikov would leave. But I wouldn't bet on that on the D prospects.

Both have one year left next year, so imo as a hockey trade it's quite fair.

OK but it isn't fair from Detroit's pov but realistically Kempný is a cap dump. Find me a TDL trade where the selling team accepted an over 30 cap dump for a younger and more talented player in his prime. So if you think that's fair cool everyone is entitled to their opinion but I'm just saying this will never happen.

The age difference is two years. The level is the same. Kempny is not a cap dump. He'd most likely play top4 role in WSH right now if he was healthy.

Schultz has been amazing so far to start the year, we're not going to pay New Jersey to take him off our hands. Jensen has been healthy scratched for a reason, so we're not going to put him in the top four all of a sudden.

That's fine, but the money is very tight. Jensen's out, but that's not enough. Someone else needs to go too.

Jensen goes, don't sign Namestnikov. Hagelin gets a spot on the third line, or get rid of Hagelin instead of Panik, which is what I'd prefer

I didn't sign Namestnikov. Traded Kempny for him.

The money problem is still looming there.

Then just give Kempny away for a bag of pucks, or do a pick swap like your proposed Schultz trade.
