It's funny that you think that Florida would take Marner's cap hit, retain on Huberdeau for 3 years, and move 2 of their best 3 players.

This is such a needless trade. We don't need Ekblad and Marner is better than Huberdeau.

Really? I understand there are some lopsided trade proposals on here, and people often over value/under player certain players based on the teams they play for, but this trade proposal makes Toronto a better team overall, which is what most NHL GM's are always trying to do. Huberdeau is not as good as Marner, but Marner's cap hit is over twice that of Huberdeau. I highly doubt this trade is ever put forth, but if the deal did is tabled, Toronto does this in a heartbeat and becomes one of the favorites to win the Cup this year.

I don't know it does make them better though. Marner is a terrific player, and he's younger. Holl is cheap and terrific and the other pieces could be good, it's just a needless move. It could work out but it could also not. It's working now so why bother?

That is a good point. No need to rock the boat at this point. Everyone is playing well and the overall team game is looking very good at this point. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.
