Description
What would be the price of these goalies?

Colorado just placed Francouz on IR, and have an AHL backup as Grubauer's backup, which is likely going to cost the team points.

What would you like for Stolarz? He could be a good backup until Francouz comes back. We have Dostal so we don’t necessarily need him.

Colorado really should be looking at a better goalie than that. Kinkaid isn't really any better than what we already have in Hunter Miska. Not that I care much for Vecchione per se.

I doubt Stolarz has much value given that he passed through waivers recently. Maybe like an AHL'er or C prospect for him? Avs probably need to aim a little higher than that though.

Ned is the only goalie in the Canes system who's close enough to the NHL to be a backup next season with the cap constraints with Dougie and Svech's new deals. He's not being dealt.

For Bernier I’d ask for a second rounder with a fourth going back. We don’t really have a capable backup and a good goalie helps our guys confidence and boy do they need it. It’s also worth noting that our fourth will be early and your second will be late so it’s moving down a little more than one round.

That seems fair. Avs don't have a 2nd rounder until 2023 though. Any other way to make it work? How about a 3rd for a 5th/6th instead?

Also, any chance of getting some retention?

I really like having him as the backup. Like I mentioned, would take a price no one is comfortable paying. 1st or a higher end C/LHD.

Can you retain half of Bernier and Nemeth's salaries to make the salary going each way equal? If so I might consider that.

I’d take the 2023 2nd with some retention. No harm in spreading out picks to help that ELC pipeline for multiple years. I value second rounders bit more than third when considering the likelihood of success.

Primeau or Gerogiev would be my targets but no ide how you'd make it work. On the other hand, maybe it's time to see if Grub can handle a heavier workload.

It absolutely is not the right time to be seeing if Grubauer can handle a heavier workload. After what happened in the playoffs the team needs to be insulating Grubauer and keeping him fresh and in top shape for the playoffs, rather than running him into the ground in the regular season. He is very much a good starting goalie by his stats, but the biggest knock against him is that he's never played more than 40 games and handled a big workload, no point overworking him now, especially with the season being so condensed.

As I said, MAYBE. There's no reason to expect any goalie these days to be pulling 60 game seasons, but he should really be capable of playing 40 in a shortened season. No question the Avs need some form of cover though.
