Description
This is a potential 2020-2021 look for the Calgary Flames. It outlined the Seattle entry draft, some main pieces to resign plus a few additions to the roster. In the LTIR, I put a few additions we could make to our roster but didn't know just put the cap hit there were in before. I feel Calgary does have the chance to play around with the cap however, most of the cap should be left for the 2022 free agency as players like Thuckuck and Gaudreau will be looking for a raise. Tell me what u think of this team and what we should change.

It would take a lot to get Seattle to take Lucic, not to mention he has an NMC. If he waives it to help the Flames, they won't "backstab" him and pawn him off to Seattle. But to play along, it would cost a 1st and a Zary/Pelletier/Wolf. Expensive to get rid of him.

I think Bennett or Nesterov could end up being the Seattle pick.

Little high on the Dube deal. Even if he has a breakout season, he won't get a major payday. The numbers and production just aren't there. I think he's looking at anywhere between 1 and 2, kinda like that Valimaki deal.

Zach Hyman would be the top free agent forward that I would pursue.

Why would Seattle take Nesterov when he would be a UFA?

Send Gio to Seattle

Bite the bullett on Valimaki now, do a 4.5x6 like Ras. Going to be a bargain when he's a 1-2

Why would Seattle take Nesterov when he would be a UFA?

Engelland was a UFA when Vegas picked him. Nesterov has played well and if SEA likes him, they can easily strike a dea. With a limited number of roster spots, Seattle won't be taking "best player available" from every team, they just won't have the space. A Vegas example is they selected a UFA from Arizona, Teemu Pulkkinen or Connor Brickley from CAR, players they selected essentially because they had to.

Maybe they take a Bennett or Kylington. I think it's less likely they take Kylington as every team has their own Kylington type that will be up for grabs.

Canes pass. We need players to help us win, not quantity for quality deals
