Hmmm, give up a third and a prospect or wait for another goalie to pass through waivers...? Decisions, decisions.

If Colorado "wants to prevent the possibility of both of their goalies getting injured during the playoffs like they did last time", something tells me that they wouldn't go after a goalie who could miss the whole regular season.

He doesn't have to go through waivers if they don't place him in taxi squad.

Keep him on IR before the playoffs start. Kucherov style.

It's a tactical approach. He's expected to return until playoffs, so they'd gain themselves a goalie that doesn't have to pass through waivers this year if he's kept in IR until the playoffs start.

He'd be potentially their 1G the next year if Grubauer won't sign. He still has two years left and his statistics are impressive.

Not necessarily targeting Stalock, just saying there will likely be other goalies we can get for free off waivers.

Well he's RFA, so $1,9M is his QO.

Don't think he's getting big of a raise to this.

Probably, but I daresay that Stalock is likely going to be better than any other option in the free market.

He is making 1.9M for just this year. He’s 26, bottom 6, right wing who gets around 20 points in a season. Would definitely be of use towards Calgary’s third line. He’s coming on a okay start for a bottom 6er with 7GP, 1G, 1A, 2P, -2+/-. Plays on a bad Minnesota team, so that’s why he has a -2, and Minnesota is 6th in their division.

Most likely, yeah. It all depends on how severe Francouz's injury is because he's currently a cap restriction either way you look at it.

    Stalock isn't worth a 3rd.
If that's the deal for Hartman MN should just keep him.

Maybe they can convince SEA to take Hartman, Stalock, and that 3rd (or a 2nd) instead of Greenway (the loss of him is going to be Tuch all over again).

It's not really giving up a 2nd, it's moving back about 30 spots in the draft with the 3rd coming back.

I think Stalock's worth relatively lot due to statistically being a 1B goalie in the league and an asset with dirt cheap two year contract.

For SEA there's many goalie options there and not many forwards...Greenway is most likely going to be more interesting for them. He'll be a top6 forward in that roster.

It's also a two year investment as said. If Grubauer walks, COL could try using a Stalock-Francouz goalie tandem. Not many names there, but considering it costs less than $3M and would benefit from that immensely good D Avs have, it COULD work...maybe.

Calling him a 1G is generous...he's below league average and has a streaky history.

I'll take a Grubauer contract at $5 mil a year over Stalock any day of the week.

Career save percentage doesn't make him favors, but his stint in Wild has been good. Close to 0.91 in a relatively bad team.

Also he costs less than 800k.

Doesn't really get past the streaky history though. Avs don't need or want a streaky goalie. If they need help come playoffs, they'll go for a bigger target. That's genuinely one of their only weak spots.

Most of the goalies in the league are streaky. Stalock is far from the worst option, considering his cost and all that jazz.

Can think of less than 10 goalies who are actually consistently good.
