All good, everybody knows what the 1st line is capable of. they’ll figure it out

Nice to see the scoring finally even out

That being said wonder what’ll happen to the Copp-Stastny-Ehlers line when Dubios is ready... they’ve been really good

I’m kinda hoping for Dubois with Appleton harkins possibly, Lowry with a couple vets and role four lines. Maurice always plays Lowry a bunch so a solid line probably won’t get there needed ice. But I always find success breeds success, so they shouldn’t mess with a clicking line.

Dubois on Lowry's wing?.. Lol

Seriously though why mess with the line that's on a roll.

Don’t tell me your turning into lowrys number one fan club? How bout copp? Any chance he figures offense out and forces himself into top 6

Haha, if he can keep producing at this rate I might. Lol

Idk, maybe? It really is Ehlers making that line go though, always figured Copp had 3rd line production in him but he had a lot of top 6 time last season and he didn't do much, guess we shouldn't get too carried away though, this is a weird year with no pre-season and Edmonton seems pretty disorganized, Montreal and Toronto will be better tests but they'll have Dubois by then so that'll make a difference too.

Copp does seem to check all the boxes other than the regular offense, I thought he may have peaked as a 3/4 liner, but always pull for the guy, they say his physical fitness is at the top of the squad, and a high school quarter back, so the athleticism and intelligence there. Maybe he’s finally free of Lowry lol. What is going on with the jets? Where is the random no name vet only there for one year to steal ice from Stanley? Probably just watching the waiver wire for a old vet replacement lol

I was just talking to someone about this, was the key to unlocking the offense from Lowry and Copp to stop with the checking line nonsense and just split them up?!.. Lol

Lol u don’t
If the 2nd keeps rolling I would go
Conner-Scheif-Wheeler
Copp-Stastny-Ehlers
Harkins-Dubios-Vesa/Lewis
Perreault-Lowry-Appleton

Obviously not 3rd line minutes and I think the 2nd line would have a pretty short leash and would only be a matter of time till Dubios and Statsny switch spots but those r good problems to have

Copp has really been a pleasant surprise, it seems he took it to the next level ever since he took Laine’s spot.. definitely playing like a top 6 player rn, now let’s see if he can sustain it

Maurice lives and dies with his set lines and roles them out religiously. All ready talking stasny to the wing and probably copp back to wing with Lowry. Copp has out grown the checking role and should be defensive physical force with a couple offensive players like stasny and ehlers or Connor and scheifele. Don’t want to spoil Dubois, he used to playing with mediocre wingers might as well give him Appleton and harkins. Couple vets with Lowry and call it a day. Role 4 lines against the whole division going to be fun. Possibly match against mcdavid and Mathews, but role 4 lines everywhere else

This may be a little crazy here, but honestly, out of all the lines, the 1st line has been probably the most lacking of them all in 5v5 play. I know Maurice would never do this but what about:
Connor-PLD-Scheifele
Copp-Statsny-Ehlers
Perrault-Lowry-Wheeler
Lewis-Harkins-Appleton

What I think are the two most likely scenarios are:
PLD-Scheifele-Wheeler
Copp-Stastny-Ehlers
Connor-Lowry-Perrault
Lewis-Harkins-Appleton

or

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler
Copp-Dubois-Ehlers
Harkins-Stastny-Appleton
Perrault-Lowry-Lewis

I like it, I would much prefer Dubois or scheifele on the wing over stasny. I think stasny needs room to work and those two can make there own

Yup Stasnty drives a lot of plays by close support, he's definitely a natural center. PLD and Scheifele are more suitable for the wing, but if one of them were to be moved over its going to be PLD

I just think regular condensed season, role four lines and work in a plan later in the season to tighten up to get best 9 on ice for playoffs and home stretch. Try to conserve some legs and prevent fatigue injuries, with a close eye on ice time. That trade is starting to grow on me

I know a lot of fans don't want to hear it, but most of the game is played at 5v5 and PLD destroys Laine in that aspect. Patrik is likely never going to be able to drive offence at the rate PLD can, and playing with more talent will see an increase in PLDs scoring rates. I liked Patty and obviously a lot of Jets fans did, but by no means was he the perfect hockey player and I bet Jets fans are really going to like PLD when he starts playing

I just hope he signs up for 6/8 years and 8.5 to 9.5, and hopefully scheifele takes the years over a major bump In dough in a few years, like wheelers contract possibly.

I always knew both had offence in their games. They just can’t score when they play together because they just play too similar games.

You guys might hate me for saying this but I think the jets should split up the second line when Dubois gets back. Hear me out.

So we all know that ehlers is driving that line and stastny is doing a great job with support and copp is the perfect guy to put in front of the net. Now, as much as I like stastny, Dubois brings the same game but with more speed, skill, size, and playmaking ability. Imo thay line works because it has the 3 best corsi guys on the team in it and they have 1 mentality, get pucks to the net. It works but Dubois is better at doing that than stastny. Also consider this, stastny has the least amount of points since that line has been put together. By no means is he contributing less but he’s not contributing to the finishing plays as much. He also has the lowest corsi of the 3. Therefore, I think Maurice should put Dubois in that spot. Now, the rest is up to Maurice, he can either have 2 3rd lines and give the jets the best depth they have had in years or he loads up the 3rd line. Either way I’m honestly okay with it. Now based on what I said and let’s say Maurice plays 4 lines this is what I was thinking:

Connor-scheifele-wheeler
Copp-Dubois-ehlers
Harkins-stastny-perreault
Lewis-Lowry-appleton

Now, I also want to point out a couple of things. Harkins is poised to break out soon right?? Liek it’s not just me. The kid is literally everywhere..

Additionally, a lot of people here seem to want to put copp and Lowry back together. I just want to say 1 thing to that GOD NO. We’ve seen what that does to the other half of their games. Yes they are great defensively together but they are great away from each other too. And away from eachother, they are completely different players in the offensive zone. It’s wonderful and I’m seeing from Lowry what I’ve always hoped to see. Let’s just agree that those two are better kept apart (at least for now)

Finally, can we agree on one more thing? This team needs another top 4 d to play with JoMo. Demelo and JoMo are great together, but maybe another top 4 rd will give the d-core one last boost it needs. This team is looking good though. They did great handling McJesus and this is honestly the best set of games the oilers have played all season so we got a better team than the standings show. It’s very early, but with a few tweaks this team could be the real deal

It took a week, but I went from hater to believer. I like your plan, I would work towards this by playoff time, but to start after a two week quarantine gym time, I’m not sure what it entails, but I would start Dubois with a couple kids and ease him into top 6 minutes, as far as Lowry goes I think he works best with vets and speed over kids. I think copp/harkins are interchangeable and also Appleton/Lewis. So I would put pearrault with Lowry and Lewis a little bit of everything. Dubois with harkins/Appleton and hopefully a natural chemistry. Two kids getting the puck to a 22 year old vet with playoff experience, and leave well enough alone with ehlers not overshadowed by anyone, passer stasny and defensive responsible copp, and then there is the first line with no need to spread any of them around for more offense. All a matter of Maurice getting everybody the right minutes, my only request is switch stasny and Dubois on the pp.

Agreed with everything, like Stastny on the 2nd line but it’s only a short term solution.. guys 35 already, when Dubios comes in start him on the 3rd with Harkins (who looks closer and closer to breaking out, only needs ice time and better line mates imo) and have him learn the Jets system and when he comfortable enough him and Stastny swap places

And yes don’t put Copp and Lowry back together at any cost

Copp-Scheifele-Wheeler
Connor-Dubois-Ehlers
Stastny-Lowry-Appleton
The best of the rest on the 4th

Copp and Stas can switch imo

This leaves the 2nd line to score and the other 2 to score/defend against the best

I disagree with that tbh. The reason that 2nd line works is because they have the same mentality. Keep possession and shoot as much as possible. That’s why their corsi is so high (like 65% since they’ve been togehter I think). The jets should definitely keep that going. The jets have lacked a possession line since they got to Winnipeg. We finally have one so we should keep it. Dubois is overall a better player with the same possession capabilities (in fact better) so I would replace stastny with him once Dubois gets comfortable.

But Connor is doing nothing cuz the top line is taking all the pressure. This allows Copp/Stas to help out Scheifs and Lowry gets the other to play shutdown...The 2nd line has scoring abilities coming out of their ying yang

That first line is merely going through a rough patch. They do a lot. We know they work and we know they will figure it out. Don’t need to worry about it.

Yup Stasnty drives a lot of plays by close support, he's definitely a natural center. PLD and Scheifele are more suitable for the wing, but if one of them were to be moved over its going to be PLD

It would be PLD but shouldn't it be Scheifele?

Honestly #55 plays in the D zone like a winger anyway so really if one of them is moved to the wing it should be Scheifele imo.

Yeah it should be Schiefs, but I really don't see Paul splitting up that 1st line. They have had some decent games, 1 pretty good game, and 1 game where they were absolutely destroyed by McDavid (1st Oilers game). They definitely would be in need of the biggest shakeup on the team right now.
