Any interest in a couple of years of Rakell? (Edit: We can adjust the package)

He said he was good in camp but all the other centres are better. Stepan, Anisimov have been horrible. White isnt horrible but he needs to play with a guy like Mark Stone to succeed. He’s only a support on a line, he’s not a guy who carries the line

Hmm if Rakell had 4-5 years left on his deal I’d say yes, but he’s approaching UFA

Don’t think RikRak would be a great fit here, he’s 27 and we’d probably be looking for someone 23 or younger to fit our timeline. I’m sure plenty of contenders would be willing to give up a 1st+prospect for RikRak though.

Smith has decided he likes big, mean veterans who suck at hockey more than young, skilled players that are the future of the franchise 😐

That's fair. A Silfverberg reunion might be alright? Not a superstar, but fits into the top 6 fine, and is a pretty solid 2 way forward. Likely puts up more offensively in a different offensive scheme.

You may have missed your chance on the 23 and under wingers last week...Can't see too many teams looking to move them right now unfortunately.

Edit: Smith thinks he's Barry Trotz.

    for Beauvillier or Wahlstrom?
Not sure who else fits...and think it would be overpaying for either.

I consider him a middle winger, and he has the offensive ability to produce. Just curious why they are tanking him so early on. Let the guy have a chance to succeed in roles more suited for him
You think they try to trade him this offseason, weird since its first year of his new deal

Center is the one position NJ is deep at ... maybe another trade partner would be better fit? They have Hischier, Hughes, Zacha, Zajac & McLeod down the middle with many others who have been displaced to wing.

Timmy being on the 4th line is odd too, just give your guys chances to succeed. As a coach develop your players, hes not going to win the cup or jack Adams with scrubs over talent

i swear Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson is the first line and they play very well but sometimes you dont see them on the ice in a 7 minute stretch, im truly mindblown.
    Its like:
