Description
I keep hearing that the Leafs want to trade for a forward and some names include Alex Iafallo, Brendan Lemieux and Taylor Hall. A guy who came across my mind is Dylan Strome, who has surprisingly become a really good play driver at even strength plus is a local kid who's close to Mitch Marner.

Now the purpose of this move would to put the super line back together. They were unstoppable during the small sample size that they played last season, I'd imagine they can become the best line in hockey if they played full time.

I also hope reuniting Marner and Strome in a more sheltered role would help rejuvenate Marner's season. So far he's really struggled to get to his game. Just floating around in the defensive zone and not really getting involved when his team has the puck. It honestly seems like he is not able to handle the pressure of playing in Toronto.

Kinda a ridiculous scenario that Marner is playing so bad, that the Leafs need Strome. Or the Marner can't handle the pressure in Toronto, so acquiring Strome eases the pressure on Marner. C'mon.
IMO the Leafs forwards are good enough, and while the trade value proposed might be fair, the Leafs. shouldn't be giving up futures for a marginal upgrade.
The Leafs are 5 and 2, what's the panic?

Isnt Marner also on the #1PK? Top scorer in the league and plays defense. Sounds good to me. Am I missing something?

I agree with all the above.

Dear Lord. Injuries happen. And right now, these are injuries that the depth of rhis team should be able to handle.

Sooner be giving these kids a cup of coffee to gauge where they are at than hitting a panic button because Matthews got a splinter.

I don't think Marner has looked that great, despite his stats. But geez, he's playing well enough in different situations as you suggest. Leafs forwards, though not scoring at high rate seem to well balanced this year. Defensive play seems better, thanks greatly not having Barrie and Ceci on the team year. Kerfoot has looked good as the 3C, Engvall is his two games as 4C. looked good. I'll keep this team and see how it jells. I still think the Leafs have the best shot to win the Canadian division.
Leafs are 12th GAA and 13th in GF. Not overwhelming but they have been grinding out wins.

Now that Marner is shooting 100% more times, I hope Keefe tells him to shoot 75% less which is a net increase of 25% which would be perfect. Still give the best chances to Matthews to bury but shoot enough to keep anyone from cheating.

People are kinda being harsh here, I don’t mind this. I definitely don’t think we need a centre, Strome is a good enough player to look at but I’d prob play him on the wing. I don’t think Chicago takes this tho, and I don’t know if I’d pay any more. Just get the best guy available at the best price, no need to look at making marner happier. He’s got plenty around him

This is a troll post, right? Like, the whole idea of bringing in Strome to help Marner when he's traditionally on the ice with one of Matthews or Tavares is hilarious. Let alone the idea that his season needs rejuvenating when he's tied for points with McDavid. Good one lol.

While Nick is a somewhat interesting prospect, that late 1st in this year's draft is not all that valuable as this draft is not deep and even then, if it was a late 1st is a giant bag of magic seeds that likely won't come close to Dylan Strome. This trade is not balanced as such.

Strome is producing at slightly over .76ppg since joining the Hawks and that includes about 20 games on the Hawks as a winger which was a horrible experiment and his numbers dropped off big.

Kerfoot, while defensively certainly better, is a HUGE dropoff in offensive production to .43ppg since joining the Leafs. I'll take Strome 101% of the time over Kerfoot and it's not close either.

I only say that because he loved Conor Sheary (username) and always undervalued Marner. Checks off all the boxes.

His play driving analytics have been horrible to start the year. He is putting up a lot of points, but the stats suggest he's been riding on Matthews and Thornton's coattails.

I know Marner's current centers are a lot better than Strome but I feel he is struggling to handle the tough defensive matchups. Bringing in Strome would allow them to roll the super line which will face the opposition's top players while Marner's line gets easier competition so he will hopefully drive play better.

Yeah Marner's done some good work on the PK but his even strength defence has been bad. Just floats around in his own end similarly to Kessel and watches the play happen. Luckily the other 4 guys on the ice (Matthews, Hyman, Muzzin and Holl) are very strong in their own end but they are still getting under siege too often lately.

Fair enough. I heard the asking price for Strome was a 1st so that's what I offered.
