His death shook me. I don’t know if he could’ve filled Holdo’s role of keeping tension & mystery around what is happening, but he definitely deserved a better end than exploding in the background and being mentioned in a throwaway line.

There's a decent baseball/star wars splinter group on facebook. Effectively wild is the main group (Great baseball podcast somewhat focused on analytics if you're into that sort of thing...), then there's a bunch of splinter groups for things like Star Wars, hockey analytics, tv shows, movies in general, etc.
