How to approach the off-season go for it all

Description
Off-season moves explained:

Ekholm trade: Nashville goes full rebuild and decides to part ways with the pending UFA in Ekholm. So, they get three solid picks, two of which to use right away in the 2021 draft, and a fill-in that could hold some intriguing value in Brett Kulak. Overall, this is a win for both teams and a great start to Nashville’s rebuild.

Kempe Trade: This trade is too good for LA to pass up. Not too much to explain here.

Expansion Draft: Even with the interesting options available for Seattle, they won’t be able to pass up on Jake Allen. Montreal won’t protect their pending UFAs, and will purposely sign them after the draft. So, below is Montreal’s protection list. They obviously go with the 7, 3, 1 format

Gallagher
Kotkaniemi
Kempe
Drouin
Anderson
Toffoli
Lehkonen

Weber
Petry
Mete

Price

Thought Chiarot and Edmundson are considerable options for the Kraken, the value they can get out of Jake Allen is unbelievable. Especially on that contract. They don’t pass this up.

Chiarot trade: There’s no doubt Winnipeg would want him back. Now why would Montreal do it? Trust me, I love the play Chiarot has brought to the Habs, but with the cap situation getting tight, they may have to move on from the pending UFA. Though I don’t want to, I think this is a good move. On the bright side, one of Romanov or Mete can slide in next to Weber

Byron trade: Cap dump. Fleury won’t find much of a fit with Brook being in the system. So, we clear that much needed cap space.

Free agent signings: They all take cheaper deals than they should to try and go out and win the Stanley Cup. Simple.

Kempe as a top 6 player for 1M for 2 seasons is worth a first, or the kings keep holding on to him. Definitely becoming obvious he has not yet reached his ceiling.

It’s for one season but ok. We could easily give them more value. Just don’t want to overpay

Kempes on the top line now, not sure his value will remain at second rounder if he keeps going the way, but not sure the kings move him they zero have established NHL ready wingers ready for a top 6 role

How do you figure it's only for one season? Kempe is a RFA next summer and the Kings will have exclusivity on those negotiations.

Kempe has been one of the best players for the Kings so far this season and is a key part of the rebuild. He's not going anywhere unless someone significantly overpays (1st round pick +). He's exactly the type of player the Kings want in their rebuild (fast, skilled, defensively responsible).
