It was tough to watch, and was worse as the game went on. I tweeted out a couple of the unusual line combinations, just baffled by them. Stepan, Brown, and Haley as the 2nd line near the end of the first period was one of them.
Brown didn’t have a great game. A couple of weak shots on goal, and inconsistent play. I’m not picking on him, I’m just saying his play was below what we expect from him.
There was a PK later in the game, and I’m wondering why Haley is out there because he’s all over the place, running around chasing too far out and completely out of position, more than aggressive, but rather overly ineffective aggressive, and then I realized it’s 28 not 38. A good player trying to do too much because of the play around him. One guy can’t turn the tide when there’s so much lack of skill on the team to support him. Haley, Anisimov, Watson, Paquette, Coburn, and even Stepan at times, are showing their lack of skill or age, and that’s 1/3 of the skaters.
Sens fans are frustrated, and each lose shortens the extremely long leash of the coach. Nothing we can do but watch, and hope.
