I didn't take this very seriously when I saw that Hedman wasn't #1 (or #2)

Even as a Bruins fan I know McAvoy isn't #1, but he's up there. Victor Hedman is in a tier of his own

McAvoy has the best advanced stats in the league last year. Mix with a super cheap contract boosts him to 1. It’s close.

Spurgeon is the best defensive defenseman since Vlasic fell off a cliff.



Serious argument can be made for Heiskanen because of his skating but he has tunnel vision offensively. Cale Makar if not the end of this season then the next.

I can’t explain how dominant Proverov is. The best way to explain is to just watch him. Super underrated.

He’s up there. Based off this past season Josi is 2. Can easily change if Josi falls back down (likely)

Hughes has been better than Makar this year imo. I don't think Makar based off last year is allowed to be on this list because of sheltered he was

Has never played 82 games his entire career. He usually misses 10-15 games a year.

I think he's a really good D-man, but he is not 1 or 2

Hedman is by far the best, and the thing that advanced stats don't favor is lingering injuries, no one in the league is better than Hedman or Josi.
