How are you saying that isn’t a fair trade??
Especially Considering pens paid Addison and a first, and Addison is better than Vaakanainen. And don’t even give me the “pens overpaid for Zucker” because they paid fair market value for a top 6 winger signed to a long term deal.

1. Diminishing returns.
2. What they paid doesn’t matter at all.
3. He’s been inconsistent to put it kindly, or trending downwards if we want to be mean.
4. The bruins have negative infinity need for a winger.

Jason zucker trending downwards? He had 12 points in 15 games last season coming to pit. That whole line hasn’t done anything, malkin included. If pens were to be sellers and rebuild (which they won’t this year) they would be getting a similar package for Zucker compared to what they paid, assuming he still has a solid year

No chance Rangers consider this. Nils is one of our best prospects and not worth moving unless in a package for a 2nd line center which Rust and Reese are not. Plus not getting into the game of throwing away firsts like we did a couple years ago.

Well ya, he puts in a 30 goal year and this is a different conversation.

One less year on his contract, and a sample size with high end linemates in Pittsburgh without an offensive explosion.

Can’t see the penguins getting the same return that minnesota did, and again, boston has zero need for a winger. If zucker turns into a really good LD, then i think this is fair.

Mtl declines. A 1st round pick for Dumoulin ? Asking too high.

MTL declines because they don’t need anymore LHD, dumo is definitely worth more than a first though...

I mean like I said he was close to a PPG last season when first arriving in pit. I’m not worried about him at all. He will get going as soon as Malkin starts playing like Malkin. Fair that bruins don’t need another winger.

I agree with that. I think he’s a good player, and i think if there wasn’t a pandemic, he probably would have gelled with one of the two big centers and probably gotten back to 30 goal pace ways. I don’t think 12 points in 15 games makes any GMs check off the box next to his name that says, “elevates his game with high end talent.” I think his value to the penguins is far greater than his value on the market. I wouldn’t say, “he will get going when malkin etc etc,” but i think it’s likely. Problem is, lets say he turns in a rock solid 30-30 type season. You’d think his value would be through the roof, but his progress would be just in time for him to turn 30.

Play third pairing? He’d be your best LHD LOL (unless Romanov keeps this up)

He's a 20 PT defensemen and his expected goals for and expected goals against are bad. Nothing about him screams top pairing defender. Looking at his advanced stats I don't even think he makes the team

LMAO you’ve lost it. This is a guy who anchored the pens top pairing in back to back Stanley cup wins and is only 29, the prime age for a defensive D. He has proven to be a top pairing D. Advanced stats don’t tell the whole story with him.

He doesn't produce points and his advanced stats aren't the greatest. What makes him a top pairing caliber defender? He averages 21 Minutes a night which is decent, but his bad advanced stats tell me he shouldn't be playing that many.

Like I said, advanced stats don’t always tell the full story. There are so many outliers. These same stats used to say Jake Gardiner was amazing defensively yet I bet any leafs fan could say otherwise.

For example; looking at Dumos numbers last year, his GA/60 was bad sure, but his XGA/60, SA/60, CA/60, FA/60, and HDCA/60 were all great. His on ice save percentage though was dreadful. Which leads me to believe that he was the victim of very bad goaltending and it wasn’t his actual play that caused the bad GA/60. You need to look at these stats with more context.

So even if all of this is true, it doesn't mean Montreal should be trading a 1st round pick for a player of his caliber.

Maybe even if all of this were true, I don't see Montreal trading a 1st round pick for him when our LHD is already so stacked.

It is true you can check yourself, but yes I 100% agree MTL doesn’t need Dumo. They wouldn’t be interested, but if pens were sellers he’d definitely be worth a first to another team
