Probably just a cheap stopgap till MP / Matheson are back. Pens have too many LHD to invest significantly there

thats what they said, of course he would love to add a Top 4 dman but a 3rd pairing dman is more likely. GMJR is apparently making calls which is shocking they didn't claim Honka if hes looking

personally I dont think there is anything realistically that the Pens could offer for Timmins right now. You would have to give up similar player of age and ability and I dont see how that benefits either Avs or Pens

Especially now that Timmins is playing regularly with the team and looking solid

any team that offers up an overpayment king ransom you have to listen to but really TImmins is a very important piece to the Avs blue line today and into the future.
Do the Pens realistically have the ammo to give a cup contender like the Avs something they can not turn down for Timmins. Now that they did the Cole cap dump, it would have to be a package that significantly upgrades a position for the Avs

I know, I know. I'm just keeping my ear to the ground and gauging value and interest.

If Byram makes an impact immediately then we're going to have an issue as we'll have 7 Dmen who deserve to play top 4 minutes (Girard, Makar, Toews, Graves, Timmins, Byram, and Johnson).

With that in mind, at some point it might make sense, or even be necessary, to move a Dman for something else we need - either a 3C or a goalie for example. Pittsburgh don't appear to be a good trading partner in that regard, but I was curious to see what some people would offer nonetheless.

It would have to be a 3C, that's by far the biggest weakness on this Avs team.

How about Rust? Kapanen? Idk, feels like scraping a barrel as there's no perfect fits for Colorado. A 3C version of Rust would be nice.

Timmins has been the golden boy for Sakic and Bednar for a few seasons now, cant understate how it has been reported how much both Front Office and Coaching staff love him. They aret moving him bc of Graves

EJ is sitting out tonight already, they are going to rotate D all season. Keep EJ fresh you dont have to lean on him for heavy minutes anymore. The transition to Makar Girard Toews Byram and Timmins is happening now

And what's that on the Pens...Mark Jankowski. Hes a JT Compher level 3C. There isn't the value in Timmins or Graves being used as current to upgrade Compher and hes really not even that bad, hes been blah to start the season but based on the posts it makes it seems like hes been a complete train wreck.

Its fine my man, keep a look out for bottom 6 upgrades but Compher isn't as bad as the immediate need to upgrade the 3C posts are seeming to be. Avs could have a 3C upgrade on the way once he season is done and can join the team in the spring....Newhook

Like I said, once pens are healthy we’d immediately regret trading our forwards. I’d rather just pick up a filler guy

honestly that filler guy from the Avs would just be Gilbert. He is that short term 3rd pairing filler

Agree that Jankowski or McCann wouldn't be upgrades for us.

I disagree about Compher though. The 3rd line was awful in the playoffs, and have started the season off really badly now as well. We need a 3C in a big way either just a placeholder until Newhook arrives (eg. Bonino), or someone with a bit of term who can insulate Newhook and guard against Kadri leaving in UFA in 2022.

Avs shouldn't be trading their filler guys at this stage. Both Gilbert and Pateryn are perfect for the 8/9 Dman roles, and will likely be rotated into the lineup regularly to keep them in tune and allow EJ to stay fresh.
