Yes, but with a caveat:

They use the accrued picks to move (in this case) the PHI 2nd Round Pick up in the draft as far as they can. The Jackets need 2 definite talents to come out of this draft, as their development window coincides with the 2 years left on the deals for PLD, Jones, Elvis(?), Domi, Werenski, and Foudy. Those two (assuming 1st round talents) need to be NHL roster-ready by the time those mentioned players have signed their next deals.

In this case, names like Andre and Tullio you're hoping to be shoring up the AHL roster or complimentary pieces to this roster. Hopefully everything else can be managed through some clever UFA signings.

If they can't manage that, they're losing the affordability those 2 ELC deals would grant what's projecting to be a very expensive, top-heavy roster.

IMO they should think about rebuilding which would consist of trading a bunch of those guys. Columbus is a pretty decent team but they're far from cup contenders, and I don't really see any way they can significantly improve without rebuilding. The return they get for Dubois should be a nice start and trading away veterans for draft picks helps as well. If they do it right, they'll be back in a couple years since they already have a lot of good young pieces.

Savard is definitely a player I'd be interested in the Flyers acquiring is this really what you'd expect as a return?

I think this is close to the return, but with a prospect worse than Andrae IMO. I think OP was likely trying to throw in an arbitrary prospect without realizing Andrae is probably now a top 5 prospect in our org

I think cap space would be the real killer unfortunately someone would need to be moved

IDK that I'd say that. He's a C/LW and could fill in on either the 3rd/4th line if need be. He'd certainly be an upgrade of Lindholm

Savard probably brings back a 1st at TDL. Any team serious on winning a cup with a need of solid defensive play would probably have him at the top of the list.

As for trading Foligno, that's a real double edge sword. Yeah, moving on from him is no huge loss for CBJ as far as he's gonna be a UFA. But at the same time, I don't know that it's A. even possible and B. in the best interest of CBJ to move him.

as for point A. he probably blocks the trade. He's got kids. They have been settled in Columbus for a long time. I don't think they are going anywhere. So he basically blocks all 10 playoff teams and puts him with one team left on the list, like the penguins or something, aka close by and probably not being traded to.

Point B. what the hell happens inside that locker room after he's gone. They really don't have any to be captain other than him. Those are just facts of life. In a lot of sense you have to think Nick is sort of damage control against Torts. I honestly think he's the only one left in that locker room capable of being that too. I think as he's lost help things have kind of started to spiral. Make no doubt he use to have help. Guys like Dubinsky were huge in keeping that team together. The two of them actually brought guys like Anderson, Jenner, and PLD under their wing and made these guys the players they are today.
Hard nosed, tough, stick up for your teammates kind of guys. Make no doubt about that mentorship.
But Dub is gone, and it's been just Nick. You move a guy like Savard out, and then you trade Nick and the leadership on that team goes where?
Jones? please.
Atkinson? I don't think so.
At some point they need guys willing to go toe to toe with Torts and put him down before he rips the team apart. Which he will. Nick and Dub were that firewall. Neither one was willing to put up with his ****.
That's been known for awhile and removing the last part of that firewall, will mean bad news for CBJ.

Good insight. I really do appreciate torts coaching systems but his toxicity blows.

Also I'd prefer Andrae and a 2nd over a first, cause I'm really high on him. But Savard is a huge locker room guy too, no idea why he hasn't got an A

And? Nash is still an upgrade over Lindholm.
