Description

Stepan can play PK and PP, and is defensively solid. Would he be a good deadline solution as 3C?

Loved him in New York and it looks like he’s doing well it Ottawa. I think he’d be a good addition to the Avs.

I'm guessing it'll take at least a 2nd. Last season even a guy like Barkley Goodrow returned a 1st.

What do you think makes him a bad fit?

I kinda had him "written off" as an option as I don't consider him to be fast enough for Bednar's style of play, but perhaps he could still be useful. At least more useful than Compher right now lol

Goodrow didn't fetch a 1st outright though. The trade was a 1st for Goodrow + 3rd.

Goodrow also had a tiny caphit which increased his value. Stepan doesn't.

Regardless if Goodrow gets that return, Stepan (50% retained) goes for a 2nd. Not to mention he was acquired for a 2nd too so that's likely his established value unless he tanks this year.

Why trade a 2nd for Stepan then flip for a 3rd at deadline. I'm sure they'd want at least what they paid or use him for vet experience little longer than a few months.

He can’t skate at the level the rest of the Avs bottom 6 does, he hasn’t played in a bottom 6 role since when? I think he is done being effective player on a winning team.
