Description
Traded Matthews first because he wasn't happy about going to Toronto.
I needed a hard hitter and i would like a young Defencemen so that's why i did that trade.
The final trade I did because Engvall isn't great so I got rid of his cap.
I think this is pretty good but could be better.

That’s a win for Winnipeg, also Ehlers isn’t a center.

Ottawa isn’t trading Sanderson for that package.

Detroit already has a full roster.

You should feel shame.

Also, Matthews didn't want to go to Toronto (incorrect) but he's up for going to Winnipeg?

Yeah. There is a lot not to like about the co struct of the top 6.

The bottom 6 I almost like...... except Sutter. Injuried too often.

Tbh I think you could get a lot more for Matthews. The only issue is you’d need to make sure that the salary would work for the team you’re trading him to. Not many teams can afford a 11.6 million contract.

Ottawa says no. They drafted Sanderson at 5OA this past year so they clearly like him. They wouldn’t move him for a future 1st that will likely be a late 1st, and some average skaters.

Detroit says no since we have a full roster and no room for Engvall. He’s really not special and isn’t worth giving up a draft pick for.

Look, I don't want to be rude. But if you want to post on capfriendly, you should at least have of who Auston Matthews is. Nhl.com is a good place to find his stats. You will see he almost won the rocket last year. So, in conclusion, toronto is not giving away a top 5 centre in the nhl for a guy who is about the 4-5th best forward on his team, and some unknown prospects.

Leafs decline trade #1, Ottawa declines trade #2 and Detroit declines trade #3. See how easy that was.

It's ridiculous under value for sure on Matthews.

But just as you are advising this poster, I wouldn't consider Perfetti "some unknown prospect". He was just picked 10th OV in this draft, and just had a great WJC with Canada.

Yes, I agree he's a great prospect. He's going to be great as the second centre of the jets one day. But it's just that... a second centre. That's what he's projected to be right now, which is not Matthews.

I know who he is a great player but someone's got to go Marner and Tavares like Toronto Matthew would rather be on Arizona but they don't have what I'm looking for so I trade too Winnipeg for a cheaper player and a player who can develop.

How do you know he'd rather be elsewhere? He's never said it. And why does someone have to go? And finally, why do you think Perfetti and Ehlers are replacements for Matthews? Ehlers is older and has far less point/goals in his career, and Perfetti was a 10th overall pick, which is good, but is not an indication he is going to be anywhere near the worth of a 1st overall pick who is the best player of his draft class, and is one of the best in the nhl.

Liane would probably have to be included to this deal. By the way, the jets are my second favourite team. So it's not as though I'm unfamiliar with them, or are biased against them. Just being realistic here.

How can you tell this is an obvious troll post?

1) the first point he makes is Matthews was unhappy about being drafted in TO. No one has ever said that ever other than this guy.

That's all I need to read to know this is another "trust me, I'm a Leaf fan" troll.

Alright, gonna ignore the major imbalance in the Ottawa trade for a second and point out that the LD depth chart would be: Rielly, Muzzin, Dermott, Sanderson, Sandin. We already have loons on here writing 5 page essays on why Toronto's ruining Sandins development by not playing him over Rielly/Muzzin, so I don't think Sanderson would be a good pickup.

Leafs took Sanderson @ 5OA because they thought he was the best player at that point. You would need to provide to them 5OA value, not what YOU think Sanderson is actually worth.

OTT declines.

But Kudos to trying something different eh. Not the same old tired trades
