opened a can of worms last night

Description
With Pomo putting Connor, Scheifele and Wheeler back together he has opened a can of worms. I instantly noticed they started trying a lot harder once put together which is even more concerning. Maurice has been making some questionable lineup decisions, and by putting that 1st line back together that may have been his biggest mistake. It's likely we see them together again, and we'll be right back to where we were at last year. Hopefully maurice doesn't put them back together, but it's likely he does. If they stay together, we might be back to square one on the laine trade situation.

These are likely the lines for the next game unless Laine is back. Then we just slot him in for MP85 and he moves down to 4th where harkins is. My optimism is slowly draining for the year. I see the Jets struggling along, and then selling off some pieces at the TDL.

Connor is a damn good player. Its him that made that line better just like how the 2nd line played great against Calgary. Wheels just needs to move down to the 2nd line

What are you 4-1? Jeez. Listen here kid, I’m an oilers fan. Swiss cheese in net and offensemen disguised as defensemen. Life’s tough here.

If Laine continues to impress he will...Its only been three games and Laine has only played in one so its a bit difficult to see where Maurice is going

Wheeler on the 2nd line makes too much sense...so naturally it will never happen!

With the uncertainty this year and let’s face it, a roster that is a shell of its former self to a degree, I’m ok with a step back and a purge at the TDL. It would be better if PoMo was purged as well, but I doubt he will bear any responsibility and he is probably pretty safe, but maybe concurrent ****ty years is what we need for change to actually happen both with coaching (systems, favortisms, lines etc) as well as a cultural change within the room. It time for Wheels to pass the torch to the young core, accept a lesser role and fewer minutes, that’s what a leader does when his time is over.
I say this not as a pessimist, I want the Jets to succeed and win a cup, but something is obviously broken, and at this point they need to be slapped in the face with it, because whatever PoMo is trying to do, isn’t working.

Just sitting here quietly enjoying John Gibson's 3 game return as the GOAT...Small sample size be damned...tears of joy

I dont know. a little too worried about it if you ask me. Tough to criticize the move in a W and PoMo likes to "take out the blender" and mix up lines all the time. Ive always thought that the top 6 would be interchangeable on any given night.

Guess you don't realize what it means when Maurice puts Wheeler and Scheifele with Connor...

No no, I 100% agree with all of what you said, would be nice for a change of culture. Change the coach, and wheels should pass on the torch. It probably would take 3 years of constant losing for Maurice to be canned which is unfortunate.

I dont really get the Wheeler hate on this site. Sure he does have more power than the other guys and is buddies with the coach, but I just look at production. The guys been close to a point a game player over the last number of years. I dont think the jets issue has anything to do with the forward group, the D needs to be improved. Since they lost Trouba, Myers, Chariot and Buf it's been a steady string of one year vets

Yeah but the culture he brings to the locker room is not great. There seems to always be conflict in the locker room, buff and wheeler went at it, laine has been uspet too, they had to have a closed door player meeting as they were having so many locker room issues. He's buddy buddy with the coaches and it seems to be affecting the way they're running their lines. The jets would be better off with Morrissey or Scheifele as captain.

I'm with you. Had to do something to spark the team and we needed goals. Wheeler gets the tip in to send it to OT and then Ehlers, who was dropped down wins it.

PoMo pressed all the right buttons with the blender and people are hating on him for it. When Laine is out maybe we need to go back to the familiar top line? In a short season there isn't time to be messing around and losing to teams that aren't projected to be in the mix for a playoff spot.

See this is where my point was, yes he did the right thing last night to get the W. But if you continue to play that 1st line you will regret it. Them staying together long term just hurts the entire roster composition.
