It's going to cost wayyyy more than that to move two more years of Okposo. Seattle likely has even better leverage than Vegas did when it comes to getting assets for taking on contracts. Flat cap and Covid have a lot of teams trying to shed money.

No team should offer Hall nearly that much money or term.

What would you offer if you were the sabres?

I wouldn't offer him a contract at all. Sabres should hope he has a good season and then the Sabres can hopefully trade him the deadline for futures.
Really some team will overpay him but it I wouldn't. 9.5m can be spent long term better. Gee, hope Sabres management have learnt from the previous disastrous UFA signings of Okposo and Skinner. Even RNH, I wouldn't expect him hold 7.5m value for five years. In a cap flat league, there will plenty of value out of for short term signings.

Its interesting to hear a counter point, i think the consensus among sabres fans is- we want to keep eichel happy, and if they have a great year, it complicates things. Okposo was awful, its the second time tavares screwed us- moulson being the first. Never never pay money to islanders wingers that benefitted from playing with tavares. These contracts are boat anchors. Hoping for compliance buy outs, but i guess the owners dont want them.

Keep Eichel happy, spend cap wisely. The rich owners and poor GMs want a compliance buyouts. The "cheaper" owners and the ones who respect the reasons the NHL is a cap league don't want want compliance buyouts. Interesting check the records of Jersey with Hall last season....believe they were a .350 team, without Hall .500 team. And Arizona were much worse with Hall than pre Hall
